Planner Task Link Attachment To OneNote Page 'Invalid'

Good Morning,

Has anyone experienced an issue with the Task Attachment Links to OneNote becoming 'invalid urls'?  I have several Teams that have Planners and OneNote notebooks.  I typically have added a link on individual tasks to individual pages in the OneNote notebook for the Team/Planner group.  A few days ago, I noticed these links were still taking me to the OneNote notebook but not to the page...they were taking me to the first section first page only.

When editing the link anything to a page is considered an invalid url now.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your feedback! We have involved more resources to check this issue and will share the updates once available. Here I would like to provide a summary so that other community members can easily identify the symptoms.

Symptoms:

When we go to Planner task > add attachment > Link > Add the link, we will get error message “Please enter a valid url” if the link including symbols like & ! ^ * “”

Assessment:

More resources have been involved to check this issue. We will post back when there is any update.

    This thread hasn't been abandoned, but the project sure seems to have been. I am assuming at this point MS is not interested in fixing it. We've had to explain multiple times how it is broken. It is really frustrating because it used to work. We aren't asking for a new feature. we just want the feature fixed.

    Yes, I was confused re: OneNote desktop, OneNote Online, and OneNote for Windows. Recently I started using OneNote for Windows exclusively based on what I've read, but the copying of a link to a OneNote page and pasting into Planner task STILL does not work without manually deleting out the "onenote://https..." portion of the link.

    Have I missed something since this thread seems to have ended? Did it move elsewhere? Is there a fix discovered?

    I've never noticed any issues with OneNote mainly because we don't use it that often.  The issue I was having was with any kind of URL pasted into Planner.  All of a sudden one day it started working.  No updates that I remember.  But I agree that MS doesn't seem to be in a real hurry to fix it since this issue sprung up in Oct. 2018.  We've had a variety of similar weird issues with Office 365 that MS doesn't offer any kind of quick fix or any sense of urgency to fix.

    lling Office365 Home edition on a couple new computers that it did NOT install OneNote 2016. I can't remember for sure but I think OneNote Online is now basically included in Windows 10. It took a while to Google a download link to actually get desktop OneNote 2016.

    Links copied from OneNote Online work fine pasted into Planner.

    So my theory is Microsoft has no real interest in fixing this issue. They want us to use OneNote Online. And the more we struggle with issues like this, the quicker we'll give up on the desktop version.

    On a side note, you don't have to paste the OneNote 2016 link into a text file to edit it. You can paste it in to a Planner task link and then just backspace until you reach the onenote: part of the link and then the Save button lights up. I don't know which method is more tedious.

    OneNote 2016 is no longer part of the Office install, but it is still supported. And OneNote online isn't meant to replace OneNote 2016. OneNote for Windows 10 is, which comes with Windows 10. And it does the same dual URL copy to the clipboard.
