Planner Task Link Attachment To OneNote Page 'Invalid'

Good Morning,

Has anyone experienced an issue with the Task Attachment Links to OneNote becoming 'invalid urls'?  I have several Teams that have Planners and OneNote notebooks.  I typically have added a link on individual tasks to individual pages in the OneNote notebook for the Team/Planner group.  A few days ago, I noticed these links were still taking me to the OneNote notebook but not to the page...they were taking me to the first section first page only.

When editing the link anything to a page is considered an invalid url now.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your feedback! We have involved more resources to check this issue and will share the updates once available. Here I would like to provide a summary so that other community members can easily identify the symptoms.

Symptoms:

When we go to Planner task > add attachment > Link > Add the link, we will get error message “Please enter a valid url” if the link including symbols like & ! ^ * “”

Assessment:

More resources have been involved to check this issue. We will post back when there is any update.

    This is so horribly broken I which you'd just block OneNote links entirely so the user knows it doesn't work instead of allowing them to paste links, then mangle the link, making it not work, meaning in a few days, weeks, or months when that task is due, it will go no where and users will be left scrambling trying to figure out what to do.

    This is the kind of thing I expect in an Insider program, not GA. It really feels like someone at MS is tweaking it with ZERO TESTING, then letting it hang out there for a few weeks to see what blows up, then waiting a few more weeks to tweak again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

    Looks we are taking a step back here not forward and to be honest this is completely unacceptable.

    In recent weeks removing the second link no longer works and when pasting the first link it seems to save itself differently after save the edited link. Once again link works fine when cut and paste into the browser. Please see an example of the reformatting issue below and I have not included the entire link to avoid customer information. I am positive this cannot be unique to me as it happens across all out notebooks.

    Seems to be special characters ie %28 and %29 with ( and )  respectively and if those are correct that is fine but there is an error somewhere in the conversion because the link no longer works.

    I am also experiencing this problem.

    If I paste a link to a page I get the following in my browser when trying the link, "Sorry, something went wrong."

    Steps I follow:

    • Using Windows 10 OneNote copy page link
    • Add attached URL in Planner Task
    • Click link
    • Browser displays, "Sorry, something went wrong."

    If I use the web browser to go to OneNote and copy the URL from the browser it will take me to the section of the notebook but not the correct page. Even if this worked and took me to the correct page I do not want to use the web based version of OneNote.
