The search function in the top left doesn't return any results. It used to return results if the given search term appeared in either a file name or the body of a file.

    Hi

Search from File Explorer on one drive does not find the file I am searching. The file is in the one drive folder as I can see the file if I scroll down the list of files in my folder.

How can I resolve this issue? my search criteria was 'honeywell' and the file in my directory is named as 'HoneywellPrefixBarcode'.

Shouldn't I be able to find all documents that contain the word honeywell in the name or in the contents as well?

    Regards

    Ish

Still an issue here. Typical Microsoft junk poor execution and just ridiculous product all around. Microsoft never works correctly. How about add another setting then another setting then move all the settings and add another setting and then another, then delete the setting and add another setting. Go learn from Apple its not that hard to figure this out.

    I found an unfortunate workaround.

Apparently this is a permissions issue, between your Microsoft ID and your files.

I created a new Microsoft account under my 6 available licenses, and created a new folder in the new OneDrive.

I shared that OneDrive folder with my old corrupt account. And migrated all the files in there which in fact changes the owner of all the files into the owner of the folder (the new clean account)

The index is now working perfectly fine when using the corrupt account to search.

I haven't tried moving them back … but maybe that also works.

    hope it helps!

Hi Eric. There's no good news for you. This has been an issue with Onedrive for years! Microsoft simply don't care. They dont see it as important enough to assign resources to it to fix. I'm sure they take the view that we're 'getting some of the files we're searching for, so that should be good enough'. Well its not. I for one will be getting rid of Onedrive as soon as I can identify another cloud platform that does what its supposed to, and has support in place to assist when there's an issue (unlike Microsoft). Maybe Bill Gates has too much on his mind at the moment, like how much money his wife is going to take in their divorce, and his 'friendship' with Jeffery Epstein!
