OneDrive crashes and deletes itself

On my laptop OneDrive (which has been working flawlessly for years) now crashes at random. It won't restart. In fact it seems the exe file has disappeared. I need to unistall it and reinstall it. Had to do this three times in the last three days.

There are no error messages - the icon just disappears.

How do I diagnose and cure this?

I have same problem - Windows 10 - Office 365 - OneDrive.exe is deleted from my computer on every re-boot - pain in the backside!

I think, I hope, I might, maybe have it fixed.

I added an exception to both Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials

I excluded the entire folder:

c:\ProgramData\Microsoft OneDrive

sofar it's been 2 days and OD is still there

Initially I only excluded it from Malwarebytes, but that did not fix the problem, so clearly it is microsoft's own program that appears to eat onedrive

Thanks - how do you apply the exception in Windows Defender?

Well I'm not sure how, but the problem seems to have resolved itself, well for 2 days so far.

I have now also put exceptions in both Malwarebytes and Defender, thanks for the tip.

Hows it going for the rest of you ?
