OneDrive crashes and deletes itself

On my laptop OneDrive (which has been working flawlessly for years) now crashes at random. It won't restart.  In fact it seems the exe file has disappeared.  I need to unistall it and reinstall it.  Had to do this three times in the last three days.

There are no error messages - the icon just disappears.

How do I diagnose and cure this?

    I have Malwarebytes installed too on both machines.  I did cross my mind that antivirus or MWB might be doing something here - but having checked the logs of both, there is no visible record of either taking any action here.  

    It must be a possibility..... but it still needs fixing.  I don't think I want to run without MWB installed...

    I wonder if it's worth those of us on this thread stating what AV they have?  I run Norton Internet Security and Malwarebytes on both machines - and Norton WiFi security on the laptop, but not on the desktop.

    Quite frustrating.

    I've been having this issue as well for the past month or so. I did see a Reddit post that seemed to suggest that Malwarebytes might be the cause of the issue, I have that app installed and plan on disabling it when I get home to see if that has any effect. Don't know if this will help any of y'all but thought I'd share it just in case.

    Same issue here on two of my computers.  It was working fine on both computers until feature update 1803 got installed.  I'm assuming it has something to do with this update.  Microsoft please fix this! I'm sick of having to reinstall/resync files every day now.

    I am facing the same issue, on both of my machines. Trying to re-install OneDrive on that machine triggers a "newer version is installed error". Un-install, re-install and re-sync fixes the issue but this is terrible behavior for a backup client...
