OneDrive Files Disappeared

A series of folders are all empty! All of the files are missing. The folders and subfolders are present, but all the files in these folders and subfolders are simply gone. What is particularly odd is that all of these folders have a Date Modified within a very tight range, between 8:59 and 9:19 AM on 8/8/2018:

Trying to recover the files in the OneDrive on-line Recycle Bin, you can see there's a gap between 7/30 and 8/9, where there are no deleted files.

These are very important client files, and we need to recover them. I can't identify anything on our end. Does Microsoft have extended deleted file support?

    Same thing is happening to me. I hope Microsoft and not just one person there is looking at this issue seriously.

    Microsoft should be made to compensate for the lost data and hours spent by their users trying to recover. This is cost to us, and if Microsoft merely pays lip service to it with responses but not with specific resolution for each and every one of the affected users, then Bill Gates can talk about philanthropy all he wants, but he is being irresponsible here.

    Similar thing happened to me just this afternoon. 

    I clicked 'save' before closing a word file of which the saving destination is online at my OneDrive personal account. After pressing save and then close, unusually, a microsoft malfunction report jumped up and I was pretty shocked because nothing was behaving abnormal until I clicked save. I reopen the word document and realised the file was restored to a previous version dated 3 days before, in between I had made important changes to the document. I opened the Version History and found the last saved version was this one that is 3 day old, missing all the changes I made in between.

    It was very strange because this morning when I open the file from my OneDrive, all the changes made between now and 3 days ago were saved and present in the document. I had emailed my supervisor just yesterday morning, I thought to check the file attached with that email I had sent -- it turned out that one was also from the older version! It must have meant that at some point the updates were not syncing properly to the OneDrive. But I couldn't find local recovery files either... missing files.

    I have OneDrive personal account and I am a mac user. My autosave option is always on. Does anyone have any clue was went on?

    Another odd thing that I just discovered, one file I am absolutely sure I created yesterday, has a created date of the day before that. It makes no sense...

    The odd thing is for me that it did not only disappear from my OneDrive, but also from the folder that I saved locally shortly before on my desktop of my laptop... 

    Could that have anything to do with the cause?

    Hi all,

    I experienced the same issue less than an hour ago. 

    Are there any things you recommend on trying to recover the lost files? They're suddenly gone and I really need them back :/ Have worked for a month on a Python script that's now gone
