Microsoft Office 2011 Mac 64 bit upgrade

I purchased Microsoft Office 2011 along with the purchase of my MacBook.  I did an upgrade yesterday only to find that Office 2011 will only run on 32 bit.  The upgrade now requires Microsoft Office to run on 64bit.  I read in many places that Microsoft has no intentions of supporting this upgrade so therefore, I can no longer safely use this software, that I purchased, on my mac.  Microsoft is forcing me to purchase something I have already purchased earlier.  I do not care if there are newer versions of Microsoft Office.  I purchased Office 2011 and Microsoft should still honor that purchase by providing the 64bit upgrade.  I contacted support thru their chat box and was only directed to this site where I can look up or post my own questions.  Really great customer support Microsoft! Thank-you! NOT.  I wish to have a refund or a product key to another Microsoft Office that will run on Mac at 64bit. I'll be holding my breath awaiting even more outstanding customer service.

    Thanks, appreciate a fellow old timer. I like Office 2011 and will keep it until the wheels fall off my current 32 bit Mac.

    Hi Logknow, fellow old timer!

    Corel is not out of business. You can buy Corel WordPerfect for Microsoft Windows 7 through Windows 10 from Amazon.com and many other retailers. Corel abandoned the Mac, but they still offer WordPerfect for Windows.

    You're correct that Lotus AmiPro bit the dust. That happens in a free market, sometimes.

    Microsoft no longer sells or supports Windows 7.

    Office 2011 will run in perpetuity as long as you don't pull the rug out from underneath by dumping the operating systems on which it runs.

    I agree with Gilles. A better analogy: you can hunt with a rifle or a bow and arrow. Both will kill prey  effectively but not in the same manner. I will not upgrade past Mojave because the Office 2011 works fine. I have seen Office 369, it sucks. Windows 7 looks better and smarter than the current version. Unfortunately, in the software business, companies have to regress the product to continue making money.

    As an old guy who used AmiPro and Word Perfect (all put out of business by Microsoft), you use what you can until you cannot anymore. I will eventually have to buy Office 369, when the Mac that I have malfunctions or dies. We can gripe and cry all we want but "corporate's gonna do what corporates gonna do!!!" My 2 Cents added to the pile. Logknow.

    I got exactly similar problem. Hope they do solve this problem soon. While purchasing, i thought it has lifetime validity.

    That's a shame, being not able to launch our purchased apps because there are not 64-bit comptable....
