Microsoft Office 2011 Mac 64 bit upgrade

I purchased Microsoft Office 2011 along with the purchase of my MacBook.  I did an upgrade yesterday only to find that Office 2011 will only run on 32 bit.  The upgrade now requires Microsoft Office to run on 64bit.  I read in many places that Microsoft has no intentions of supporting this upgrade so therefore, I can no longer safely use this software, that I purchased, on my mac.  Microsoft is forcing me to purchase something I have already purchased earlier.  I do not care if there are newer versions of Microsoft Office.  I purchased Office 2011 and Microsoft should still honor that purchase by providing the 64bit upgrade.  I contacted support thru their chat box and was only directed to this site where I can look up or post my own questions.  Really great customer support Microsoft! Thank-you! NOT.  I wish to have a refund or a product key to another Microsoft Office that will run on Mac at 64bit. I'll be holding my breath awaiting even more outstanding customer service.

    As so many have stated on here Microsoft fails to keep another agreement and is trying to weasel more money out of people that already purchased their product. This is the reason I moved to apple in the first place. I transferred everything to Numbers. Not a bad program. Takes a little bit to figure it out but once you do it does everything I need it to. Was going to learn to use it earlier but once your stuck in a rut I guess it's easier to take the easy path. Thanks Microsoft for giving me incentive to figure out more ways to avoid buying your products.

    Hi

    I am sure that if you want to complain you will, but the free version of Microsoft Office at OneDrive.com is considerably better in many respects than Office 2011. Especially if you use Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint. It can open and use workbooks that Excel 2011 can not.

    Hi Logknow. The problem is, that i have an Imac from 2017, so off course i want to enjoy the benefits from the newest software, and it costed my office package from 2011.  So for know i am stuck with the second best option, which are the apps from apple, which are ok, but just not the same as the office package.

    Apple or office are forcing a ton of people to upgrade their office package again for 200 dollars, so that's what i call good business for them, and horrible business for customers. 

    Well, i might as well just live with it. This is out of my hands, there is nothing i can do. They wanted control, they got it.

    I feel your pain. I do not get Microsoft and I do not understand Apple. I bet Steve Jobs would have come up with a good solution.

    I would pay to upgrade Office 2011 to 64 bit like I would pay to install catalytic converters on an old car. I have already offered my opinion of Office 365; sucks!!! Office 2019 has too many bugs in it. As a businessman, I understand that businesses have to make money to continue; as long as they make a good product. MS 2011 is a great product.

    I do not have the programming skills but IF Microsoft would partner with some hot shot programmer, I feel confident that someone could write a 64 bit upgrade to Office 2011 just like great mechanics can modify cars. Perhaps I can dream...

    Hi, I have MS Office for iMac 2011 32-bit version.  I have just upgraded from High Sierra to Mojave and my MS Office 2011 still works.  I have been warned not to upgrade to Catalina as this supports only 64-bit applications.

    If I want to use MS Office 64-bit version for the Mac, I will have to purchase an up-to-date version, either by 365 subscription, or outright purchase.
