Microsoft Office 2011 Mac 64 bit upgrade

Will the manufacturer change the car from gas to diesel or electric for you at no charge if gasoline becomes unavailable? Changing the operating system is like changing the environment in which your automobile operates. What if paved roads switch to rail?

I hope your street is earmarked for this upgrade. You won't need/be able to move your car out of your property. Imagine how much money you save on gas.

I have an automobile (as you call it) from a small, low volume manufacturer.  She will be 20 years old in March next year and I still have support from the manufacturer.  If car manufacturers didn't support their products they would rapidly go out of business.

There are two separate messages, and each should be presented only once, assuming you have updated to the final update of Office 2011 version 14.7.7

When you launch an Office 2011 app, you might see a yellow band under the Ribbon. I don't remember exactly what it says because it displayed only once for me and now I don't see it. This is a notice from Microsoft.

Apple displays a dialog when you open ANY 32-bit application (or even a printer driver) in a current version of Mac OS cautioning you that at some point 32-bit applications will no longer be supported. Again, once you have dismissed that dialog for a given application it should not display again for that application, unless you are using Mojave, where I think the reminders display regardless because at some point your apps will stop working.

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to turn those reminders off.

Microsoft offers a variety of licensing types both perpetual (primarily for IT shops) and subscriptions. Home and Student is the only one that does not include Outlook.

In addition to the above, Microsoft offers a completely free, reduced feature version of Microsoft Office on line with OneDrive. This version competes against other free lightweight Office suites such as LibreOffice and Google Docs.  There is also a free, lightweight on-line version of Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft OneNote is available for free from the Apple app store.

In general, if you want the full featured set of Word, PowerPoint and Excel I advise getting a subscription. Although Microsoft sells perpetual license versions, they're made primarily for IT shops. If your hard drive dies or you wipe it clean, or you buy a new Mac, you'll probably have to purchase a whole new perpetual license in order to keep using the suite. If you buy a subscription you have full control over your installs (up to 6 of them). A subscription makes you keep your hardware and operating system up to date in the sense that after 6 years (if it's brand new today) your hardware and OS probably won't be current enough to install updates.

I am having a problem reinitializing my Office Mac 2011. My computer (Mac Pro Early 2008) has died, so I have transferred (or cloned) my drives to a newer working Mac Pro (Mid 2010). This is asking to again input the serial number, which I have, but it fails to complete the initialization. My other software has transferred over fine, only Office 2011 is not initializing. Any suggestions as to how I can get 2011 initialized and up and running again?

Even better yet, is it possible for me to uninstall Office from this drive so I can then instead install it on the newer SSD drive on the computer running MacOS El Capitan? If I am not able to initialize it, what is the appropriate method to uninstall it so it releases the license? My Office 2011 came with a license allowing me to install it on  2 computers, I also have it installed on my laptop.

I'm a bit confused. Are you advocating keeping all three Offices, or is 2016 a misprint?

To be completely thorough, old versions of Office came with a variety of templates. You can keep them and most will still work in the latest version of Office, although most seem dated looking to me now. If you made custom templates or stored Macros in your Normal.dot template, keep those templates and your Normal.dot file so you can move them to the new Normal template using the Organizer tool.

Once you have successfully imported all your old mail and contacts and you are satisfied you have everything you need, you can safely remove all old versions of Office and the Microsoft User Data file in your documents folder.
