Same issue here, I was worried it might be a virus.

I hope MS fixes it soon since it's very annoying,

    Thanks,

    Marco

Just went to 1708 (on the slow ring); the problem STILL hasn't been fixed. C'mon, MS -- please give this some attention -- or at least tell us what's going on.

UPDATE again:  Tony, it failed this morning.  It seems to be a bit more intermittent than before.  I do know that I double-clicked in the filename in Windows Explorer vs. opening directly in Word.

Hmm. Failed again yesterday: I'd downloaded a docx using Chrome, opened it from the download bar and got the message when closing but when I went to the download folder and opened it there, did not get the message on closing. Looks like they've only partially fixed the issue.

Update: just opened a doc from File Manager on another machine & got the error, opened a second one: no error, opened the first again: no error. Weird.

    Sure:

    Microsoft Office Professional 2016

    Version 1707 (Build 8326.2096)

    Current Channel

Mine updates monthly but I have been checking daily given the problem.  It is up to date.  Again, I am Office Professional 2016, not Office 365.
