The fix to this problem is simply uninstall KB2767916, restart your computer and then run updates again. That's all.

  Hi Jeff,

That sounds a very simple fix to the small problem. A question though, how does one - "non computer buff" - search for update KB2767916? When I try to type on cortana search bar I cant - another small problem!

Thanks.

Go to CONTROL PANEL (windows key + r, then type control and press enter).

Click on PROGRAMS and FEATURES.

On left side of screen click on VIEW INSTALLED UPDATES.

Look for the update - "Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2767916) 32-bit Edition."

Uninstall it then restart your computer and run windows updates again.

I tried a lot of the solutions and nothing worked for me until someone suggested to uninstall using a Revo Uninstaller.

You may need to uninstall Office using Revo Uninstaller - http://www.revouninstaller.com/ - and then reinstall.

You can use the free download. You basically uninstall then use the moderate search to uninstall items in your registry. Worked like a charm.

    No longer have issues.

    Hello,

    I had the same problem.

    I solved it this way.

    1. I removed the latest Microsof update
    2. Waites two days and loaded the update again. (I remarked dat 3D was removed. :-))

    Solved.

Meaning that it was a MS problem. (saw a lot of similar problems in internet).

Just a quick update, I finally managed to get everything working after a complete reinstall of Office 07. This included going through manually and deleting all relevant program files and registry keys.

I'm really not sure if this will be helpful for others who've had this issue for longer than the recent Windows update, so your mileage may vary...

Add me to the list -- solved the reconfig problem using the renaming suggestion, but the popups continue.  Very annoying.  And it only occurs on my desktop, not my laptop,  so I'm trying to compare setups to see if there's a clue in there, but I hope someone else finds it first!
