I've been using Excel 2016/Office 365 and just recently, I started getting this message: "The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I'm the only one working in my file. It is stored on the OneDrive for Business, which is the company supported.

How do I keep this message from appearing?  Or WHY is this message appearing?  

I saw a similar post for Excel 2013, but no help was actually given.

Hi All,

We've contacted the related team and would like to share the latest updates here:

For Consumer products (e.g. Home,Personal,University), the issue should has been fixed in Office version 8229.2103.

For Enterprise products (e.g. Business Premium, Enterprise), the issue will be fixed very soon in few days, the expected Office version number is 8201.2140.

    The update that I performed on Office 2016 pro plus did not resolve the issue.  In fact, the build went from the following Version 1701 (Build 7766.2096) to (Build 7766.2099).

    Hi DGreenBASD,

    The update is available. Please follow Felix's instruction to upgrade Office and check if the issue is gone. This applies to Enterprise users.

    Please open any of your Office application > click File > Account > Update Options > Update now.

    Hi All,

    For Office 365 ProPlus or Office 365 Business, in different Channels, the Office versions are different:

     

    For the details, see Version and build numbers of update channel releases

    If you are in the Current Channel or the First Release for Deferred Channel, you can let the users upgrade the Office to the latest version directly.
