MS Word 2016 Alt-Click on a word to open Research Bug

Alt-Click is not working in Word 2016 but it still works in Outlook 2016 and all the other Office applications with that use the Research pane. It works in my old office 2007-2010 Word. How do I get it back.?

Still no way to fix this bug.

Microsoft broke the feature with their new modern Translator feature and did not give any notice of it or a way to fix it and it still works in all the rest of the Office apps. There are some suggested workarounds for the bug but they don't work on my PC. There is no way I can see to add the Alt+Click shortcut and the Group Policy change did not remove new the modern Translator feature.

Suggested workarounds, maybe someone else can get them to work.

If you still need or rely on the Alt+Click shortcut for Research pane, there are a few possible workarounds:

Thanks for the effort Beth. I wish MS cared half as much. I feel lucky if I can install a simple Windows update anymore.

I’ve not had a chance yet but that is how this whole thing started a month or so ago. A few months ago we got new Dell laptops with Windows 10 and Office 2010 and then a month or so later we installed Office 2016/365 and the trouble started from day one and the other laptops do the same. Alt+click never worked. Now I’m to uninstall in the hopes that, that will be different from the first time when Office 2016/365 had never been install and will be different from a full download and repair install I’ve tried and few times. Not the quick repair.

Maybe I was looking at Word 2010 when I thought I saw it work the one time as the full download repair has not worked again.

Looks like Beth Melton is the only one to see and then fix it.

    Hi Tanquen1,

From your reply above, we noticed that the problem disappear temporarily for a while after you did the online repair. So we suggest you try reinstalling your Office applications then check whether the problem still persists.

First, please follow the steps in this article to do a completely uninstall: Uninstall Office from a PC.

Then go to portal to install Office 2016 again.

    Regards,

    Tisky
