Error- the name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag

Hi, never really posted in one of these things before I this is sort of an emergency, I have an important document due in a few days for uni and all was going good until I encounter the error 'the name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag' which is preventing me from opening my document.

Naturally when I encounter this error I googled and attempted many fixes and have been attempting to edit the document.xml file for around 4 hours now to no avail.

I would greatly appreciate some help in how to overcome this error, I've linked a google drive folder with both the entire word document as a .rar file and the document.xml file as well as a screenshot of the error below.

I really don't know how to use this site but any help would be appreciated tremendously due to the importance of me resolving this error quickly.

    Doug, you seem to have the most experience and expertise with this error.

    Does this error occur with floating tables as well as images?

    How about Text Boxes?, Charts?

    Or is it strictly a problem with images?

    Hi Doug,

    I have the identical problem with a 78.6 meg docx file using Word 2013 and get the error message at the top of this thread.  It also quotes Location:  Part: /word/document.xml Line2 col 5753199.  The file contains 144 embedded jpg images (using Insert picture).  The original images were converted using Pixillion to resize them and increase the resolution to 1200 dpi as recommended by our printer, though I suspect that when the file was saved in Word 2013 the images were compressed to the detriment of the resolution, but I believe that when I convert it again in Adobe Acrobat  to PDF-X the images should be re-upgraded to an acceptable print-ready resolution.

    In the last round of editing I noticed that some of the images didn't display properly but were just either flashing or, worse, just an empty box with a red X in the corner.  Is this a different problem?

    It is important to us to be able to recover the file as it represents many weeks of irreplaceable research and editing; it contains my autobiography which I need to have printed by early December, and I'd therefore very much appreciate your kind help to repair it.  Sorry about the urgency, but this has come at a bad time and caused great frustration.

    I've uploaded the docx file to OneDrive.  I don't know where to find the document.xml file so if you need it could you suggest where it might be?     The errors in the document were associated with images that has been annotated using text boxes such as

    Rather than resorting to the use of textboxes, the same layout can be achieved by the use of a table (in this case 2 column by six row, with the cells in the second column merged and the image inserted into that cell and the notations inserted into the cells of the first column.  Here the table is shown with its borders, but they can be remove if not wanted and the column widths adjusted to achieve the desired layout)

     In other cases, where the desired layout cannot be achieve by the use of a table, such as

    the "compound image" should be compiled in a separate document and then a screen capture utility such as Snagit from www.techsmith.com should be used to take a screen capture, which can be saved as a single image in the Snagit editor and then that image should be inserted in the actual document.  The separate document should be retained in case edits to the image are required.

    If these processes are followed, the chance of corruption of the type that occurred with your document will be far less likely, if not eliminated completely.

    Let me know when you have retrieved it so that I can delete it from my OneDrive.
