My frequent sites never changes.  It is only showing 3 sites and they are sites I haven't visited in several months.  How do I get this to update with actual frequently visited sites?

Hi All,

Considering this thread has aged, it may be difficult for members and us to follow up separately. Besides, the original poster Stacey has resolved the issue, and we have also received feedback from other members that the issue has been resolved itself. This thread will be closed from further posting for affected users to easily identify the information since there may be different root causes for different tenants.

You can follow the steps I mentioned in the summary above to try troubleshooting the issue.

  1. Ensure you have deleted the sites. If you are an admin in the tenant, please try removing the deleted site via Remove-SPODeletedSite command manually.
  2. After you manually delete the deleted sites, please wait for 30 days and check if the situation remains.

If the issue persists, please feel free to post a new thread in this forum, we are more than willing to help you resolve it separately.

We appreciate your understanding.

Regards,

Yoga

Hi All,

Considering this thread has aged, I would like to post a summary of the issue here so that other community members can easily see the information.

Issue description:

Deleted sites still display in Frequent sites list on the SharePoint home page.

Additional information:

We would like to suggest you follow the steps below to try troubleshooting the issue:

  1. Ensure you have deleted the sites. If you are an admin in the tenant, please try removing the deleted site via Remove-SPODeletedSite command manually.
  2. After you manually delete the deleted sites, please wait for 30 days and check if the situation remains.

Suggestion:

If the issue persists after you manually delete the sites for 30 days, since there may be different root causes for different tenants, please feel free to post back and let us know. We will collect the related tenant information, so that we can check more details and help you resolve the issue separately.

Regards,

Yoga

    Stacey,

Before doing any of that, Msft should provide a detailed explanation of how this feature works and what exactly should be shown. Their endless troubleshooting and requests for trace logs and so on usually mean:

1/ they have no idea what's wrong but will try to blame it on something in user's local environment

2/ they'll eventually tell you it's "by design" and if you don't like it go tell user voice

3/ they hope you'll give up and stop complaining

Good companies want to find out if there is a problem and try to fix it. Msft seems to be in perpetual denial and just wants to obfuscate and delay the process. So let's get a clear statement of what we should be seeing with precise examples before wasting any more customer time. A link to the docs explaining this would be good too (though I doubt it exists in a concise form).

    Hi Stacey,

To better understand the situation, I'd like to confirm the following things:

    1. Is it possible that some files from these three sites are opened by you in other location (e.g. Delve page)?
    2. Could you access these three site collections now? Make sure they are not deleted.
    3. Contact your admin, check if Audit log is enabled in your tenant. If yes, search for audit logs for these three sites in Security & Compliance center. See if there are some activities related to your account.

    Best regards,

    Tim

There are many complaints about the nonsensical sharepoint.aspx page but Msft seems unable to fix the problem or even explain why it's so awful.
