Since the recent Office 2016 updates we have a number of users having an issue with scrolling through emails in Outlook.
Here's what happens;
User opens an email (or replies to an email).
Then the user tries to scroll to the top of the inbox (sorted by date order for example).
After dragging the scroll bar up to the top (via wheel or left click), the scroll bar jumps back down to show the 'active' email in the centre. Basically it keeps the view pane showing the last 'active' email in view.
There's no way of cancelling the active email. The users have to keep clicking higher up the list, or press 'Home' on the keyboard to get to the top.
We have re-installed/repaired 2016 install on multiple machines and it's only been happening since the recent updates.
How do we resolve this? I'm thinking it's a new feature but it's causing a lot of issues.

Correct Luke, no patches are needed. The change is purely on the service side. Outlook will pick up the change from the service and react to it.
The reg keys turn off a feature that has been enabled in the Office 365 service. When the Outlook Team ships updates they often build in the ability to turn off the feature from the service. These registry keys mimic that functionality by enabling us to turn it off at the client. I installed the reg keys myself to see if I noticed any difference and I did not. However, I was not seeing any scrolling issues. Until the product team can ship a fix these registry keys are the main workaround for those affected by the bug.
set these registry keys to disable the flight that is causing it.
@Gabriel Bratton What exactly does that mean? What do these registry changes do?
Ryan,
The original bug should be fixed in all channels but DC. There is a new bug but its supposed to mostly affect scroll when deleting items for example if you deleted an item during a search.
If you want to test and see if it could be the issue you are seeing you can set these registry keys to disable the flight that is causing it. Add the text below to Notepad and save the file as a .reg extension. Then double click on the file to add it to the registry. I posted a copy of the reg key you can download from here, https://1drv.ms/f/s!AobSYdEz_Bdhhrhccv0p07xuQqt7RA. Please give this a try on one of the affected machines and let me know if this helps or not.
