Office 365 cloud features do not work when using a privacy VPN

When I have a privacy VPN active (such as Private Internet Access - PIA) I can't access the cloud features on Office 365 (such as online templates, OneNote sync to the cloud, Excel or Word saving to OneDrive directly, etc). I have tried 3 different VPN solutions: PIA, NordVPN and VPNArea and they all exhibit the same issue. Is there a way to solve this or to tell Office to bypass the VPN?

    Hi

    In the NordVPN application you must disable "Cyversec" and then, in the "Advanced Setting" change UDP protocol to TCP.

    This worked for me.

    I did that and it seems to be working. I had all the mentioned problems with Word and Onedrive and now I'm not.

    But I'm wondering, what have I given up by making the change to TCP in NordVPN?

    OOPS!  I spoke to soon.  It seemed to be working but it wasn't.  It just wasn't giving me the annoying messages. What it did was switch to offline.  So, nothing is being backed up on onedrive.  This goes away when I turn off VPN... COME ON MS!!!!  Fix this.

    So I tried Mac's option, however I encountered an issue where my Surface and my PC, which were connected to the same network, would seem to be fighting for a connection to the server and would bounce back and forth connecting and disconnecting.  I had IPv6 disabled on my wi-fi due to issues with my Synergy client, but re-enabling it has alleviated all the issues with 365.  Now all my documents and OneDrive seem to sync with no issues, and Synergy seems to be working, so I think I'm good there.  This may also fix issues connecting to other networks that have a web portal as well, but I'll have to check the next time I'm at Starbucks.  I'll update if anything changes, but so far this is the most promising solution I've come across.

    Edit:  I also still have CyberSec enabled, and have my connection set to TCP (for a more stable connection).  If anyone is on ethernet, I'm no tech support guy, but if it works with the Wi-fi adapters, I would recommend seeing if IPv6 is enabled on your Ethernet adapter.  May or may not fix it, but it's worth a shot.  Just don't enable IPv6 on the NordVPN adapter, as I encountered the same issue as when I tried Mac's solution.

    Thank you for having recommended it, Steve! What a lifesaver for me (obviously).

    And I guess for others here I should make it clear that I, too, have no association with the company behind Hotspot Shield whatsoever, promotional or otherwise. My only interest is having recently become an end-user customer as a result of your suggestion.
