Office 365 cloud features do not work when using a privacy VPN

I did everything in this blog and got good results sometimes only to have it change in a few minutes. 

Then I went to AVG and added the TAP adapter to my network and marked it private and everything worked fine after that. 

If it changes I will let you know but make sure what ever personal firewall you are using it is not blocking the vpn

I am running windows 10 pro, NordVPN with Cyber sec turn ON.  on TCP and MTU 1472 with my default gateway and all is good for now

So what was the best answer here? We have the same issue using MDM.  Using a per app vpn the app, OneNote for example, does not connect ('try again later' error) but using Safari browser using OneNote is no issue. Quite confused by it. Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Again, after losing dozens of hours on this, for me HotSpot Shield works flawlessly with Office 365. Until I found it, Outlook would not work with NordVPN (and now the site launching issues with HotSpot Shield seem to be resolving themselves -- engineers hard at work I'm sure).

Also, since I tried CyberGhost a few weeks ago, that too has been working flawlessly for me as well! I set it to use OpenVPN, use TCP, don't use random ports, use leak protection, and disable IPv6.

The only advantage of HotSpot Shield is that it's considerably quicker to launch and seems to make Office 365 noticeably peppier.

Note that, I've again,tried NordVPN and it still won't allow Outlook to work at all. And I tried Private Internet Access, which allowed Outlook to work fine but the one time it wouldn't work I moved on without waiting to see if it was a fluke.

CyberGhost is doing fine for weeks now.

So, try HotSpot shield, and try CyberGhost set the way I said.

I fixed it by consulting Nord VPN's awesome live chat. Here's what they told me:

1. Open the Network and Sharing Center by right-clicking the network icon in the system tray and selecting it.
2. Go into Change adapter settings.
3. Right-click the TAP-NordVPN Windows adapter V9, and open Properties.
4. Highlight the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and open its properties.
5. Click Advanced
6. Click Add under Default gateways.
7. Type in 192.168.0.1 and click Add
8. You should now see the 192.168.0.1 under your Default Gateways Click OK to apply changes and reconnect to the VPN.

I'm on Win 10 Pro by the way.

I'm under Windows 7. NordVPN tech support recommended the identical steps to me (along with a number of other steps), but nothing worked.

I've recently gone to CyberGhost and so far, for about three days now, it's been working flawlessly. As soon as I installed it, I adjusted the settings to use TCP, I told it not to randomly search for a port, I left DNS leak protection on, and I told it to block IPv6. So far, it works perfectly.

(PIA was working okay for a day or two but then failed miserably upon trying open a New email -- it hung Outlook and then crashed it. That might have been a fluke but it seems unlikely. A couple days ago I installed NordVPN again try it, and again it failed to even launch Outlook.)
