Split from this thread.

This is happening to me too recently. It happens every time I go to copy text in Word. It appears right after I right click and select copy. It is really annoying. I thought it might be a phish so I just delete it. It sounds like a problem with a recent update now though. The screen shot elsewhere in this discussion is exactly what I see. Of note I copied this to paste elsewhere and the message did not appear so it might be restricted to Office.

Hi Everyone,

Since customers confirm the issue has been resolved by updating Office to the latest version, I'd like to make a summary which will benefit other community members who can quickly find the useful information.

Description

Open Word 2016 on Windows, select the text, and then right click it to choose Copy, the following message pops up and ask us to sign in to open

Solution

Update Office to the latest version: Open Word or other Office clients>File>Account>Update Options>Update Now.

More information

If the issue persists after updating Office applications, please let us know or start a new thread with the screenshots of the Office application version (Go to File > Account, capture a screenshot about the information under Subscription Product and Office Updates)

Thanks,

Felix

    Hi YCD-Eddie,

We want to know if you have performed the steps below to check the results.

    1. Try using Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V.
    2. Sign out all the accounts, clear the Windows credentials, and make sure you are not connecting to online service and check the result. This can help us identify whether the issue is an online or local issue. Here are the steps:
    1. Open Word, click File > Account > Sign out under User information.
    2. Clear the Windows credentials: go to Control Panel > Credential Manager > Remove the Windows Credentials (e.g. MicrosoftOffice15_Data:xxx or MicrosoftOffice16_Data:xxx). (NOTE: This will remove your stored passwords.)

If the issue persists, please help to provide the tenant information and the version of your Office applications via Private Message for us to engage the related team to investigate this issue. If you are not a tenant administrator, I would suggest that you share this thread with your administrator and respond with the requested information.

    Regards,

    James

We are Microsoft Partners and now have two different tenants with this issue. Both are Office 365 tenants but not obviously related in any other way.

One tenant has one user with the issue - the other has two.

A resolution would be appreciated as we will not have resources to devote to experimenting on multiple sites.

@ Perplexed user99, Thanks for your confirmation. After doing more research, we find collecting some network trace logs will be more helpful for troubleshooting the issue, so can you help capture a network traffic log for us? I have replied to you in private message, please check it via the link above.

@Robertin  I apologize for the frustrations you experienced and will share them with management so we can take steps to improve. Thanks for taking the time to let us know what happened. Is it possible for you to provide us with the service request number, which you received from support? Please provide it in a private message.

    Regards,

    Spike

I called Microsoft and they called back as planned.

Spoke with an off shore person who lost her audio, and then got disconnected and she never called back.

I resolved my issue by signing in with a different yet Microsoft registered email address and password.

So far WORD 2016 seem to be fine.

I will avoid signing in with my alternate email.

The Microsoft CSR was little to no help.  Closer to none.
