Office 16 Click-to-Run Extensibility Component could not modify 137 protected registry keys during installation or update of Office 365

In installing and re-installing Office 365 Home (64-bit install on Win 7 Pro 64-bit), I get approx. 137 Warnings in Event Viewer like the following:

Product: Office 16 Click-to-Run Extensibility Component. The application tried to modify a protected Windows registry key \msinkdiv.InkDivider.1.

I did a deep uninstall and reinstall just to see if this could be avoided, but no.  It happens on each install or repair or reinstall.

Here's all the info for one of these - but keep in mind there are 137 different ones (different keys being named):

    Palcouk - Update -

I have now run your suggested utility a number of times, and on the latest Update of my O365 (after running your utility), I have only 21 Warnings, and those are three Warnings for each of seven registry keys.  So the situation is improved.

I have now gone into the Permissions of each of those seven registry keys and added Everyone - Full Control.

So let's see what happens the next time there's an Update to O365.  Stay tuned.

(And your suggested utility is clearly good for a LOT of situations - many thanks.)

By the way, those seven registry keys are:

    Palcouk -

    1. I ran the MS utility, and Word and Excel have the same icons in the taskbar and open as they always do.

However, in Event Viewer, there are 37 "SideBySide" errors with Event ID 33 that started during running the utility - never saw that before.

The true test will come when we have the next Update for Office.

    1. The "click once trust prompt" link is above my skillset - how do I use it?

EDIT - I turned off FollishIT CryptoPrevent, rebooted, and re-ran your MS Utility.  No new "SideBySide" errors this time.

Just one error for Event 215 for PrintService that

"Installing printer driver Send To Microsoft OneNote 16 Driver failed, error code 0x2, HRESULT 0x80070002. See the event user data for context information."

So - we'll see what happens the next time there's an update.

    Thanks.

Having win64bit is no reason for using 64bit office

64bit office is required when using Excel sheets of +2gb

There's no need to search the web for a removal tool as it is available under the MS kb on uninstalling Office

Have you run this MS Utility against Office? https://diagnostics.outlook.com/#/

In ref to this KB "click once trust prompt" https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee308453.aspx

Do your key values match those given

Palcouk - Why not 64-bit as my OS is 64-bit and I sometimes have very large spreadsheets?

O365 works well.  The only issue is the error messages with each update.

Deep uninstall refers to a number of strong removal tools available if you search the web - for example, o15-ctrremove.diagcab.

As an aside why are you wishing to install 365 Home 64bit and not 32bit?

Did your 365 installation ever function correctly?

You refer to a 'deep uninstall' - what do you mean by that?
