Outlook on android - receiving notifications, but emails don't show in inbox.

I use outlook for android (Motorola Moto G running Android 5.1) and it worked great until a couple of days ago. Now I get notifications of new emails, but the messages don't show up in my inbox. If I click a notification to try and read the email, it says 'Couldn't open message', and takes me back to my inbox, which shows only old messages.

Please help!

For me, I think I've found a fix for this. I have the microsoft authenticator app on android. I disabled battery optimisation for it (added it as except from power saving features of android oreo). Now clicking on a notification gets me straight to the email!

Why is every response from Microsoft to remove your account and reactivate it??? Here's the reality--Outlook, on both the PC and Android, sucks balls. The engineers don't evaluate new (getting old) technologies and they have lost massive ground to Google. I would never use Outlook if i had a choice. I am strongly pushing for us to move to Google.

It extremely frustrating they aren't able to fix such basic functionality issue for years. Unfortunately, there is no way to report it.

    • Answers forum is place for a nonsense robotic copy/paste answers made by a completely clueless people
    • Nobody reads the Google Play comments as the issue is mentioned there hundred times
    • Do not ever try to report it via the application, it is even worse than the Answers forum (full dumb communication)

There is no Feedback Hub (as for Windows 10) application to report Microsoft app issues on Android.

Moreover it also affects the red notification badges. They appear afteryou open the Outlook app, but never before.

I find that my Microsoft Teams app on my phone stops working at the same time as the email so perhaps this is something to do with authentication?

I don't think so. I can reproduce the issue with both Microsoft Outlook email account and my own IMAP mail server that is independent of Microsoft infrastructure. The bug is there for a long time.

There is also additional side-effect, the red dot notification badge also doesn't work when a new message arrives. But when you open the Outlook app second time, it is there.

I don't get Microsoft still haven't fixed it.
