Outlook on android - receiving notifications, but emails don't show in inbox.

I use outlook for android (Motorola Moto G running Android 5.1) and it worked great until a couple of days ago. Now I get notifications of new emails, but the messages don't show up in my inbox. If I click a notification to try and read the email, it says 'Couldn't open message', and takes me back to my inbox, which shows only old messages.

Please help!

I am having this same issue on my Pixel 5. I get notifications, but an error saying the email can't be opened. I've tried refreshing my account, deleting my account, and deleting the app. None fixed it. I tried turning focused email on. No luck. While I'm frustrated, I suppose the upside is that it means I no longer get work email on my phone...

    Hello,

Below are few troubleshootings: (better than reinstallation of course). This problem is clearly independent of device.

1.I just tried to send a random mail to myself in Outlook app to update my send recieve folder.

    1. Trying to turn off battery optimization for the app worked for me too.
    2. Switching to another network while trying to refresh the folder, worked for me. (Although both my networks were up and running throughout the session, maybe outlook app has some refreshing to do with this switch, but it's just a guess)

Give it a while.. the problem will recur.  I tried that switching off focused once and thought it was fixed too.

    The problem came back.

OK. I just turned on "focused inbox" and "Organize email by thread" and all my messages re-appeared. I do not like these two options but now I see my email...

    Cheers

Wow! Thanks sos much! I was so frustrated. NOTE: After changing to focused inbox, I then changed it back to NOT Focused, and email still showed up... Apparently a glitch. Anyone else get the feeling Satya Nadella is trying to bankrupt Microsoft??? Apparently, their new slogan is "Customers no longer matter, that is is the OLD way of thinking. The businesses of the tomorrow no longer need to worry about customers need!"
