I use outlook for android (Motorola Moto G running Android 5.1) and it worked great until a couple of days ago. Now I get notifications of new emails, but the messages don't show up in my inbox. If I click a notification to try and read the email, it says 'Couldn't open message', and takes me back to my inbox, which shows only old messages.
Please help!

In addition, this is happening only with my Outlook account on my phone. The other old Yahoo account I keep an eye on through the same Outlook app doesn't have this issue.
I am seeing these symptoms on my Xperia Compact X running 7.0:
* I see duplicate notifications in the notification tray
* When I click them I get "Couldn't open message" flash message
this only appears to affect one of my accounts, a gmail one.
There are no available updates.
This does not occur on my PC and seems to be a mobile problem. Another user in the house with the exact same phone and version of Outlook does not seem to have this issue.
The troubleshooting steps you linked may have worked at the time being, but they are 3 1/2 years old. The options described there are not available in the current Outlook.
Is there an update available for Outlook? If so, kindly update it. Also, have you tried signing in your Outlook account on a different device? This is to isolate if the issue is just happening on your mobile phone only.
We found a thread similar to your concern, kindly follow the troubleshooting steps provided by Johayber T. on this link.
