Outlook on android - receiving notifications, but emails don't show in inbox.

I use outlook for android (Motorola Moto G running Android 5.1) and it worked great until a couple of days ago. Now I get notifications of new emails, but the messages don't show up in my inbox. If I click a notification to try and read the email, it says 'Couldn't open message', and takes me back to my inbox, which shows only old messages.

Please help!

Another Galaxy S9 here. For me it typically Always got fixed by a simple reboot of the phone. However the issue would reappear a few Hours later. I now made the Settings Changes described by SH n SEA - let's Keep the fingers crossed this works. It would not surprise me if some of the Vendor Changes to power Management were causing issues, although it's odd that Microsoft never seems to have caught the issue.

I have alos noticed that problem usually occures when phone has visited power-save mode. I have Huawei Honor 9 and the settings are bit differently labeled, but I will defently give try to your solution. Thanks for posting it.

So far my only solution has been: Accounts ->Work account - Delete. After re login to outlook sync is OK again.

I have now fixed, broken, and fixed it again on my Galaxy S9 phone, which makes me think I may be on to a workable solution.

The issue seems to arise with power savings for me.  Under Settings>Battery>Power Mode if I set the "Optimize" or save mode, the problem recurs.  I have to go into App settings for both Outlook and Authenticator, select "Battery" options, and set to "Not optimized" for the settings under "Optimize battery usage".  I also enabled "Allow background Data Usage" AND "Allow app while Data save on".  BTW, the battery usage hit from allowing these settings seems to be negligible.

After all these settings, "Force stop" both apps and reboot the phone.  After that it seems to work reliably.

I can't believe it isn't fixable, because it wasn't always like this. I do believe they don't care.
