Outlook on android - receiving notifications, but emails don't show in inbox.

I use outlook for android (Motorola Moto G running Android 5.1) and it worked great until a couple of days ago. Now I get notifications of new emails, but the messages don't show up in my inbox. If I click a notification to try and read the email, it says 'Couldn't open message', and takes me back to my inbox, which shows only old messages.

Please help!

This exact same problem started on my S9 about a week ago.

I've just turned off battery optimisation in Authenticator as suggested upthread and immediately my O365 emails appear as they should in Outlook.

I was able to resolve issue by changing a setting in my authenticator app on my galaxy note 8.

    1. Go to setting
    2. Click Apps
    3. Click "Authenicator"
    4. Click Battery
    5. Click Optimize battery usage
    6. Click on the drop down arrow next to Apps not Optimize
    7. Select All
    8. Scroll down to Authenicator app and UNSELECT the button (should be turned off)
    9. Go to your outlook emails and refresh a couple of times and all your emails should pop up.

    Hope this help.

At me, it looks like, the issue was with the combination of the Microsoft Authenticator app... I had the same problem for a year, too, then uninstalled the Authenticator app a few weeks ago, and since then, Outlook works just perfect on my Android.

No changes made. No error messages.

Outlook notifies and notifications show up. Open Outlook app and no new messages appear. Refreshing doesn't work. Refreshing again doesn't work. Refreshing a third time may or may not work.

    Worst Email App ever.
