SURPRISE! The layout of my one note has changed from just having tabs across the top

to taking up 1/3 of my screen showing some navigation pane.

THIS IS SUCH A WASTE OF SPACE! Everything is so small now on my screen I can't read my notes!!! I am so frustrated after looking and looking though every menu and preference on the entire software, I can't tell how to switch it back. I must have done it some how because on another account it looks like it the old style. Please SOMEONE HELP!!!!

First, we'd like to thank you for using OneNote!    As you’ve noticed, we have made some recent design updates and we’ve done this for a couple of reasons.

We've refined the experience in OneNote based on feedback from existing customers who have asked for a more consistent navigation model for organizing their notebooks, sections, and pages across devices.  In addition, these changes represent our aim to create products with “Inclusive Design” in mind, enabling customers who rely on accessibility tools, such as a Screen Reader, to access their notes all from one place.

We encourage you to try the new navigation and let us know  what you like, what you don't like, and where we might improve. Your willingness to give us early feedback is much appreciated and can help shape the future of OneNote for millions of other customers.  Please reply to this thread with your thoughts as we do read these.

Denise, OneNote Team

Please allow an option to put the section tabs back on top.  The new design is awful for how I used OneNote.  Rather than one-size-fits-all a simple feature to change the layout would cure this.  As it stands it is too cumbersome to use the sections on the left - I rely on very quick navigation between sections during live presentations and the left-sided tabs just do not lend themselves to this nor are they intuitive.

Denise ~ As of this writing, 229 out of 364 voting customers have taken the trouble to write a comment here:

Leaving (or option to leave) the section tabs at the top on the page instead of on the side

...So may I suggest that the OneNote Team show their appreciation via a comment at the top there. It would also be an opportunity for the Team to explain why it didn't "leave an option to revert back to displaying these tabs at the top of the notebook."

You can improve the look and feel of OneNote by going back to the previous version. Why would you possibly hide the search box so that now it has become multistep to access? That was probably your best feature that kept me using the program. My daily logs for this four year project are extensive.  The quick access to the search made life easy.  Now?  It's nothing less than ridiculous.  After I'm done with project I'm also done with OneNote.  You made it difficult to use simply for the sake of change.  Brutal.  This is another reason I switched from MS Windows and programs to Apple's OS's and apps.  Simplicity.
