Hyperlink insert crashes Office 2016 & Windows 10 Creators Update

Hi,

After a lot of searching, I still cannot explain why all office software crashes when trying to insert a hyperlink when latest creators beta is installed (15060).

The crashes all relate to the same DLL ucrtbase.dll.

As soon as I rollback to actual windows version 14393.953 the issue is non existent.

But I use the god-mode all the time!  Windows 10/Office 365 is so incredibly buggy, that god-mode makes it easy to use the available tools there.  Why doesn't windows do that naturally, anyway?

I was unable to send an invoice today, thanks to Excel not working its hyperlinks, perhaps Excel's just atheistic?

Fix it, Microsoft.  Please.  NOW!

Hi,

Just put the God mode fille in a seperate folder rather than leaving it in your docs folder. Then you can use your hyperlinks in Excel.

    Thank you for the specifics, Nancy.

    Isn't it weird that a huge amount of my limited spare time is spent making workarounds for downgrades to microsoft software? 

    I'll give your suggestion a whirl while I make a color copy of my desktop to pin to my screen to speed up re-placing my desktop icons to where they are supposed to be after windows 10 decides to shove them all to the left, or maybe figure out how to send excel attachments, ones that will actually open, to my client (gov't agency) who uses '365 online' while I use 'click to irritate', and maybe rebuild my business' most important excel file after excel corrupted it --- amazing, my first corrupted excel file ever, from 1995 until this 2016 365 downgrade, or I could find out where excel's right-click-date-picker went, or find out why windows 10 changes my taskbar (long) date to time only, then back again one or two days later, which drives me crazy, however, I (fer sher) won't call tech support who asks if I have a formula in my spreadsheet and I say yes and she says micros*** won't support spreadsheets with formulae while I tried to figure out how to slam down a cell phone and have it actually hang up on people who need to be hung up on (like micros*** tech support), like the good ol' days.

    Hyperlink Insert Hanging Fix

    1. Create a new sub-folder named something like editing-folder.
    2. Save the document there while editing hyperlinks.
    3. When done for the day, Save As to the permanent folder,
    4. and delete from editing-folder so that editing folder doesn't have a lot of files in it

    (which causes the hanging up when editing hyperlinks).

    The time you spent saved me.  I owe you a cheap American beer.  Your debugging steps were well-executed and a tutorial in themselves.  You've saved a lot of people a lot of time.

    I just installed the Fall Creator's Update after rolling back the previous update (1703) for this reason.  I thought this update couldn't have the same problem.  It did.  Thank goodness I discovered your thread, and now I have to thank the poster in another thread who led me here.
