Hyperlink insert crashes Office 2016 & Windows 10 Creators Update

I'm having the exact same problem, so I rolled back to version 1607 of Windows 10.

Unfortunately, Windows has automatically been updated today to the Creators version, and I don't know how avoid this update. I'm unable to find a parameter that tells Windows that I don't want this update.

So what can I do next ?

I need to create hyperlinks everywhere in my Office documents.

The only solution I have found so far is to create a macro for Word that will let me select a file and create a hyperlink in my document pointing to that file. I can also add a subaddress that points to a specific place inside the document pointed by the link. The macro is quite simple and is stored in normal.dotm, so that it is available for any Word document.

Same thing for Excel, the equivalent macro is placed in PERSONAL.XLSB, and is available for any Excel document.

I'm not very proud of my solution, but it works for me and I can wait for a real solution from Microsoft.

The other option to report a bug is to open a support case.  As much as I wish that was simple and quick it is not.  If it was just a straight up bug I could repro I would file it myself but I cannot repro.  After many rings internally and with all the case volume we get with O365 we have not had any support cases on this.  It seems to only be affecting a small number of people.  I see several Insiders on this thread and was hoping someone was already on Insider Fast and could easily report it.

If you are running Insider Fast build can you please see if you can report the issue by clicking File, Support, Contact support?  That option to submit the issue is only in Insider builds.  So far we have not had any support cases on this issue to escalate for a fix.  If you are able to do this please include the crash event from the event viewer.  In the control panel search for Event Viewer.  Open it and under Windows Logs locate the Application log and look for event 1000/1001 for the time of the crash.  That is the detail the product team will need to start and they will probably need addition information too.  

Are you saying that the only way to report a bug is to run Insider Fast? To quote the Microsoft page, suitable for people that "don’t mind a bit of risk using unsupported builds". In other words, to get support I have to install unsupported software. That's a little Machiavellian, don't you think?

Unfortunately I can't take that risk on a production machine.

Surely there must be a way to report bugs on supported versions of Outlook to the development team. The fault is easy to reproduce, I'm a developer and can deliver diagnostic information on request.
