Hi,

After a lot of searching, I still cannot explain why all office software crashes when trying to insert a hyperlink when latest creators beta is installed (15060).

The crashes all relate to the same DLL ucrtbase.dll.

As soon as I rollback to actual windows version 14393.953 the issue is non existent.

Thanks for your input

But I use the god-mode all the time!  Windows 10/Office 365 is so incredibly buggy, that god-mode makes it easy to use the available tools there.  Why doesn't windows do that naturally, anyway?

I was unable to send an invoice today, thanks to Excel not working its hyperlinks, perhaps Excel's just atheistic?

Fix it, Microsoft.  Please.  NOW!

Hi,

Just put the God mode fille in a seperate folder rather than leaving it in your docs folder. Then you can use your hyperlinks in Excel.

    Well,

After at least 10 hours with level 1, level 2 and then level 3 ms support engineer and no thanks to Microsoft, I have SOLVED my own problem by simply sitting down and trying to logically troubleshoot the issue.

I am ranting about MS because their support team isn't forthcomming when it comes to support. They keep you on hold for long periods, tell you one thing then do another. They had me clean install my Windows and wait like an idiot all day saying that an engineer would call me back within 2 hours. They never did. I had to call back. Luckily I had a backup Acronis image of my machine. I kept telling them that there was Something not right with either One drive or user accounts. The level 3 engineer didn't event try to troubleshoot with me. He just basically took the same notes as the level 2 and said he'd call back within 2 days. I had already waited 2 days just to repeat a few answers. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL!!

After noticing that this was going on with 4 of my computers with different Windows versions and/or office versions it had to be either corrupt account or corrupt file.

It couldn't be a corrupt account because the same issue was happening on my wife's computer. The issue always happened after I  had redirected my folder setting from default C:\Users\Defaultuser\documents.

I reselt folder settings and started troubleshooting one folder at a time. The most common was my documents folder. Once redirected, the crash started. Was it the folder that was corrupt? I created a new folder. No crashes. Moved my old docs to new folder. Crashes started again. I decided to delete certain files until I hit the jackpot!!!

The famous God mode command!!  (.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}) it was crashing my office software.

This is were it was placed in my docs. First on the list when Office scanned.

I decided to put it in a neet little folder all by itself.

Now, if I open a link,

Removing the 'God mode' folder fixed the issue for me too. Many, many thanks, Zardoc.

Normally I don't like seeing rants in forums, but yours was entirely justified.

Given the fault was easily repeatable it should have been possible to submit diagnostics, have someone determine the fault and produce a fix/work-around. Apparently that's only possible if we install "unsupported" versions of Office.

Not good enough. Not the way I treat my customers!

NB, Microsoft: this is not a fix, but a work-around. There'll be users all round the world suffering this issue who haven't happened on this thread.

    Andy

i suggest you post this bug here:

    https://insider.windows.com/FeedbackHub/fb

This isn't an insider bug. The version is final. (1703) 15063.11

Anyways, I'm 90% sure that I found the source of the bug.

It seems to be a conflict with my Hauppauge 2250 TV receiver. I reinstalled without the card and the issue gone.

I'm sorry to say that I seldom get answers here and even less follow-ups. The usual answers I get is ''it's by design ''
