Stop the "don't lose access to your account" nonsense.

I'm prevented from logging in by a "set it up now" button on the generic log in page (using IE10). Like any security conscious enterprise, my company manages my passwords and isn't interested in this "nanny state" option. How do I bypass it?

    Hi All,

To further investigate the issue, I've sent each of you a private message to collect the tenant information, would you please check and reply to it?

You can check the private message via https://community.office365.com/en-us/user/conversations .

    Thanks,

    James

    Hi James,

I would like to request a private message from you for inclusion in your investigations. I am a global admin for a tenancy that is also being affected by this concern.

    Thank you,

    Josh

For what it's worth, I didn't do anything and the problem went away. I can only assume enough people complained that Msft fixed something on their end. That it was allowed to happen in the first place is a severe indictment of Msft's complete disconnection from their customers and lack of understanding of the real world.. And if it happens again I've been advised Msft can expect 7500 cancelled accounts.

    Hi James,

I'm an admin and half (strangely) our company gets the "Add information to your account so you don’t lose access if you ever forget your password" - message, too.

If you found a workaround/solution please let me know too

giving the account a phone number has not proven to be working for us

    Regards,

    Julian
