Drag and Drop not working Office 365 - Word

Several community discussions on this topic, but I can't find a good answer!  Microsoft, does Word 365 support drag and drop?  If so, how do I fix my system?

    1. What exactly are you trying to drag and drop in Word application?
    2. Are you trying to drag and drop any media or text data in Word application?

    I was having the same problem Steve described. I went to the Advanced option and the Allow Text checkbox was checked... I unchecked it... then checked it... and dragon drop worked again.

    Check for open dialogue boxes - particularly <Insert cross-reference> or <Find & Replace>

    For me, it is always the open cross-referencing box (particularly as it opens on my primary screen when I am working on my secondary screen)

    BTW, I had this same problem in MS Word Office 365. Turns out I left the Mark Index Entry box open. When I closed it, I was able to drag and drop again. Now..

    1. This might be a bug, or it is possible by design. I would think it's more of a bug.

    The Mark Index Entry dialog box is a modeless dialog box, just like the Find and Replace dialog. It appears that modeless dialog boxes in general do not support drag and drop in Word. I'd call that a limitation rather than a bug. However, it is worth posting feedback to Microsoft on this in the Uservoice forum at http://word.uservoice.com.

    1. This might be a bug, or it is possible by design. I would think it's more of a bug.
    2. My solution probably would not help poor SteveB8488 :(
