I notice a rather annoying problem with Excel 2016 - when scrolling using either a trackpad or mousewheel, the scrolling is not at all smooth. Instead, the scrolling is very jumpy. By jumpy, I don't mean that the scroll will go from point A to point B in a snap rather than a smooth motion. Rather, when initiating a scroll, the spreadsheet will sort of vibrate and bounce rapidly back and forth before the scrolling commence. The problem is particularly obvious when scrolling horizontally, and it sometimes won't scroll at all, no matter how many times I try. In such instances, the only way to move around the spreadsheet is either the arrow key or by clicking on the scroll bar. Sometimes initiating a scroll would cause a beachball to appear for a sec or two, and I'm on a Quad core 2012 Retina Macbook Pro. This is a persistent problem and has not be fixed in the last Excel update. This is also not a machine dependent problem, because I experience the same scrolling problem on my 13" Retina Macbook Pro as well. Anyone else having this issue?

I too am having this issue and I'm on the latest general release with updates.
@Microsoft: when is this issue going to be fixed? Are there workarounds?
All previous versions of Excel, both Windows and Mac, display only a full row at the top of the window - regardless of the row height. The problem is that in Excel 2016 they broke the scrolling hysteresis so the window bobbles up and down far longer than it should instead of quickly snapping to each row.
This seems to be a separate problem from the entire window snapping back to the original row when the mouse scroll wheel is released after moving dozens of rows up or down.
Microsoft also broke cell selection. When you tab or cursor from cell to cell, instead of moving the focus immediately, the selection glides slowly from one cell to another. Somebody may have thought this was an elegant approach, and maybe the focus even moves as fast as it did in prior versions, but the perception is that Excel is lagging.
As a user of an older version of Excel for Mac, I was very happy to install the latest, which is several major releases up from what I was using. This "snap to cell" or "jump scrolling" or whatever you want to call it is pure insanity. It makes viewing large cells nearly impossible without a 50 inch screen running at 10000x10000 resolution. It also has repercussions when resizing columns and other simple tasks. It has drastically reduced my productivity and sanity. This needs to be an option or a toggle, which will allow me to use Excel the same way I have for the past 20 years.

I noticed very quickly what the problem is. Excel keeps an entire cell in the window, so it bounces up or down to make sure the whole cell can be seen. This is particularly obvious and annoying when working on a spreadsheet with a lot of large, text-filled cells. It's driving me nuts! I don't care if I can see the whole cell above or below the one I'm working on. I'm trying to find a way to turn this feature OFF so it will scroll normally.
