How to insert a picture in header or footer in Excel 2016?

Hello,

I'm currently working on a spreadsheet, and I need three pictures in the header. However, I can't find how to do this in Excel 2016. Did Microsoft remove the option? Does anybody know how to do this?

It's funny because I opened a previous version created in Excel 2011, and it shows the picture and then Excel crashes.

    I had the same issue when I upgraded.  Solution: I added the picture in header in the older version for Mac (2011) then just opened the file in the the 2016 version and saved the file in the new format.  Work for me until Microsoft sort this out

    Hi Joe,

    Unfortunately we don't have a workaround today, other than to use Excel 2011. What I can say is that our monthly updates allow us to ship new features to you as soon as they are ready (as opposed to waiting multiple years), and that we realize you're missing a feature that was in the previous version of the product.  Stay tuned :)

    Hi Peter,

    Unfortunately (as usual) Office 2016 for Windows and Office 2016 for Mac are not identical. Up until your line "Select the highlighted tab in the ribbon, this should be called design" is the same. At this point the highlighted tab is "Header & Footer", no design tab. In the Header & Footer there is no option to insert an image.

    This was available in Excel 2011 and Microsoft in their wisdom decided to remove it. You an also get to the Header & Footer through the File > Page Setup menu and go to Header/Footer tab Custom Header or Custom Footer and you are given icons for Format Text, Insert Page Number, Insert Number of Pages, Insert Date, Insert Time, Insert File Path, Insert File Name and Insert Sheet Name but no insert image.

    At present Mac users are stuffed. Only choice is to revert back to Excel 2011 or use a Windows version.

    Hello there,

    I'm not entirely sure if this is the same on Office for Mac, as I found this solution using Windows.

    I may have found a simple workaround, although the image needs to be scaled to the required size before inserting it. 

    Go to the view ribbon and select page layout.

    3 Cells for headers will appear on the top of the document (also footers appear). Select one of these cells in which you want the image to appear.

    Select the highlighted tab in the ribbon, this should be called design.

    There will be an image icon, click on it. Now you can insert an image from file.

    In the selected cell text will appear. Something like "&[Image]"

    Once you click on any other cell the image will show.

    You can use enter to lower the image slightly.

    If the image is too large, rescale it and try again.

    Hope this will work for Mac users as well!
