There are silos. The Microsoft Answers community (this one right here) is user-to-user. Microsoft never tracked this forum for Mac users.
The UserVoice forum is two-way sort-of. Users post feature suggestions and respond to them, and if something intrigues Microsoft (usually by getting lots of votes) they reply to the suggestion.
The Microsoft Office for Mac crowd is not very small at all. Garnter reports suggest that Apple is on the verge of selling more desktop computers than all the Windows boxes combined.
