Office 2016 keeps reverting color theme back to Colorful

I installed Office 2016 as an upgrade to 2013.  Put the color scheme on grey (because annoyingly the awesome Black went away sometime in the preview.)  

Now I have a weird issue where every time I close all of the 2016 applications and then reopen one of the applications, the theme has changed from grey to colorful.  This applies to reboots or just closing them all and then later opening one back up.  Oddly as well today (10/5/2015) I walked away from the computer to talk to a co-worker in the next office.  When I came back, it was on colorful again.  However that is the only time it has changed itself while open.

It seems to work correctly when it is set to Grey.  So for instance, say I open Outlook and change the theme to Grey.  When I open Word or Excel, they are also Grey as they should be.

So I'm just throwing that out there as a potential bug

    Thanks to the sneak update / auto update by MS feature how are we supposed to identify when a new update was applied and how that relates to the perceived bug. 

    Even if we find the date, it is hard to relate a date in the past to the install of an "update" to the appearance of a problem.  This is precisely why I vehemently object to the CTR "automagic" update push process.  MS pushes out changes and then we have to react to problems / changes / "improvements" they introduce with no advance warning or even documentation.  It makes trouble shooting so much more difficult!

    I have Office Version 16.0.6741.2056

    I have the Office Theme set to White in my options.

    Most of the time when I open a document, Word opens up correctly with the White theme. However, if I open a document from one of our internal SharePoint sites when I don't have any other documents open, then it opens using the Colorful theme.

    If I close that document then open another document, the new document comes up with the White theme. If I then open the document from SharePoint it will open up with the White theme.

    Excel doesn't seem to have the same behavior...

    I can probably live with it now that I know the rules but this is aggravating and highly annoying.

    I have version 16.0.6925.1049 which has this problem.  I don't remember exactly when I started having this problem but it is only with Win 10.

    For what it's worth, what worked for me here at work was that I signed out of my Office account completely (and remained signed out) then changed the Office Theme.

    In any Office application, go to File - Account (or Office Account). Once signed out, I changed the Office Theme to what I wanted the theme to be, Dark Gray. I have not had any issues in it changing back since. 

    What I figure must have been going on was that I was signed in to my Office Account on two different computers. Once I opened an Office application at home, the setting from there was captured in my account and the next time at work opening an Office application it would apply that different theme. Thus if I had Colorful theme set at home and was signed in, then came to work, it would remember that last setting and apply Colorful here at work.

    Hope this helps someone else...
