Visual Basic Support in Mac 2016

Am I missing something? I've been periodically using the Excel 2016 for Mac updates but quickly abandoned them because my sheets rely so heavily on VBA and support for that seemed to be missing.

I've updatd to the production version today (15.2)...and it still seems to be the case? The Visual Basic editor is..ahem...extremely basic with no menus, right click functions or anything. No ability to insert new modules either. Shortcuts don't work (breakpoint, run etc).

What's going on? Is this it? Please tell me there's some security setting i need to switch or something...please tell me there's basically no way to create macros enabled spreadsheets in Office for Mac 2016?

Hi Roberto,

You're not missing anything. UserForm support is being built right now and should be available in a few weeks. I don't expect userform support to arrive during the holidays, but I hope we have it before spring.

Thanks Gordon for the answer. I will wait after the holidays the microsoft present for christmas.

Good to see unanimity on this. Truly perplexing as to how MS could release in this state and then have the gall to attempt to rationalise it! Shameful.

Not the only embarrassment either - i've never been able to get the latest Outlook to actually deliver mail successfully either!

As to solutions - i have an office 365 subscripton and parallels and have configured so that opening xl documents brings up the windows version of Excel right on the mac desktop. This is pretty seamless, and so enough to make me forget the night nightmare that is Office 2016 on the Mac.

Not exactly a glowing summary of Office 2016 for Mac.

Do you know where we could find a list of features (1) currently available in Office 2016 for Windows and (2) previously available in Office for Mac 2011 that aren't (yet) available in Office 2016 for Mac? Those of us sitting on the bench could then wait until Office 2016 for Mac has achieved parity with its former counterpart before making the "upgrade".

Thanks, cestbien. My sentiments exactly.

I'm exclusively using Office 2011, although I also have Office 2016, but wonder if I'll ever use it. Microsoft once had a great VBA support site exclusively for Office 2011, but pulled it for no good reason other than to promote the Windows (and online subscription) versions.

If they're planning to drop Office for Mac, they should drop it. Don't put out this **** (to borrow an apt description of Office 2016).

I'm dumbfounded. Microsoft actually released this ****, and then crowed about how this was the version of Office that wasn't the craptastic one compared to it's Windows' version?! Ha. Office 2016 is turning out to be a turd -- I can't use VBA at all.. You'd think they'd warn you, right.

This is a new low, Microsoft! Shame on you and the steaming pile of turd you released. I'm so glad I don't depend on anything else that's Microsoft-made... I can imagine how terrible life can get if that were the case.
