We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members.

In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run

  1. type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder
  2. Double-click the OneDrive folder
  3. When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR
  4. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin)
  5. Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt
  6. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd %userprofile%

press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd OneDrive

press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command:

icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e

(where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix)

press Enter on your keyboard

If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop

and opened from there.

Oh yes, they are reading them.   I got a couple of "smart a$$" answers to my posts and when I clicked on the names of the persons sending them, they worked for Microsoft....so yes they do monitor this thread....but in my opinion, they have no solution so they try to make all of us look stupid by constantly posting the same work around response that does not work!!

I feel for you...Microsoft does not care what they have done to the people who use their product to make a living.

I really believe my idea of the class action lawsuit is not out of line.....by the way go back and read where I posted that idea and see the responses to that, then click on the name that posted that response. (oh sorry, that was another thread I started here)

I just bought a new HP laptop (Windows 10 and Office 13) to replace the Lenovo I have, thinking I will be able to work faster.  I have twice as much disc space and RAM, new processor, etc.  Now, I have spent the better part of 2 days trying to get the HP functioning.  I can't save large Word files I work on.  I tried using the dos prompt like suggested in earlier posts, but with mixed and confusing results.  I can now save sometimes (I think), but then Word immediately prompts me to "save as" with no ability to replace the existing file, and I end up using task manager to actually close Word (there seems to be no other way).  I activated the OneDrive (which I don't need/want, thinking it may help and it didn't), I get the feeling the program attempts to save it there with a .WRT_ or something, .... all to no avail.  Really sad piece of work.

Everything is running super slow, just really, sadly slow.  I entered into all the setting I could find to reduce, restrict, and lessen the number of apps running, background, spelling, grammar, ...everything I could find to lessen the load on Word.  Because it is so slow and clunky, I have been monitoring Word in the task administor, and I see that each page is running at more than 1 MB.  So a 500 page document is using over 500 MB of RAM.

I have 20% of my hard disc space used, and I am continually alerted that I don't have any disc space to save to?

When will there be fixes for these problems?  I guess I better fire up the Lenovo for another 6 months.  Sad...sad....sad.

At the risk of being rude, and despite my technical background, I remain frustrated.  I shouldn't have to go through all this for a product I pay for.

Many thanks, Susan.  I've got an old clunker of a computer, so I thought it was something to do with that.  It's good to know I'm not alone in this.  My CPU processor speed (remember, it's way out of date) has often run at 90-100% since I upgraded.

I do like the Windows 10 interface, but if it doesn't run Office programs, it kind of defeats the purpose, yes?

This is a major problem. I'm the Chief Operating Officer of a national company and not being able to open documents in the software they were created is a huge headache. We've tried all of the fixes you've suggested. None of them work. So we are now opening them in Google Docs. Its taking ten times as long to do basic day to day tasks. How long will it take to fix this problem properly? I can't see any timeline??? Please provide an urgent update or I will need to escalate this high and wide very quickly.
