We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members.

In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run

  1. type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder
  2. Double-click the OneDrive folder
  3. When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR
  4. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin)
  5. Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt
  6. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd %userprofile%

press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd OneDrive

press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command:

icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e

(where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix)

press Enter on your keyboard

If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop

and opened from there.

I have tried the workarounds and also uninstalled and reinstalled my Office 2013 into Windows 10 but still no joy. Although I get notification saying I can now use the application and all the icons appear in the list, when I try to open any of them I get the same error message:

    'Windows cannot find C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\Office 15\WINWORD.EXE.'

My troubleshooter informs me that Word 2013 in 'incompatible.'  Surely it can't be that difficult for technical wizards to ensure compatibility before rolling out the wonder that is Windows 10!

So much time has been wasted exploring various solutions, my productivity has been adversely affected.  I find this situation totally unacceptable. Why do I suspect that there may be something deliberate going on here?

I tried Libre but it also froze.  My spreadsheet was working fine in Windows 8 when all my applications worked well.  I didn't have a problem with the O/S.  I think the interface of Windows 10 is nice, but if the OS doesn't work... still waiting to hear from MS.  The fix MS provided did not work:  neither did all the work done by the Support Desk.  The Support Desk staff did a great job:  this is a compatibility issue between W10 and both Office 2016 and 365.

Can someone just help me downgrade my OS to Windows 8.1 until MS gets the bugs fixed?

I got the same incompatibility message with all of the Office 365/2016 apps when I first switched from Windows 8.1 to 10.  Now, the issue seems to be specific to Excel.  Because I've passed the 30 day trial period, I can't downgrade to Windows 8.1.  So, Office 365/2016 is incompatible with Windows 10, but I can't downgrade to 8.1 until the issue is fixed.

    Huh?

If I want to "save as," I need to hit CTRL+S, exit the document, then copy it to back it up.  I can't use the "File" menu because every time I try to use it, Excel freezes.  I then need to go to the Task Manager, end Excel, go back in the document to make sure all my changes are made, then use CTRL+S to save.

One Drive wont' allow me to print as PDF, use save as a different format, or sync.  I receive a "can't print" or "unrecognizable" prompt.   One Drive does not allow me to sync.

I've reported this issue via surveys, this forum, and to the Answer Desk (three times).  Microsoft programmers are unresponsive.  There's a simple option:  fix Windows 10 and let users downgrade to 8.1 until the bugs are worked out.

Can we at least get some idea as to when these issues will be resolved or does no one know yet?  I agree:  don't roll out an O/S before it's met flawless QC testing standards.  Even the Microsoft Support Team can't resolve these issues.

Is anyone from Microsoft reading these comments?
