Can’t open or save files after upgrading to Windows 10

We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members.

In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run

1. type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder
2. Double-click the OneDrive folder
3. When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR
4. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin)
5. Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt
6. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd %userprofile%

press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd OneDrive

press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command:

icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e

(where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix)

press Enter on your keyboard

If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop

and opened from there.

My main issues with Windows 10 and Office 2013:

• Excel: if I clicked on File, nothing happened (not responding) -> crashed
• Word: Couldn't save or print (not responding)
• Outlook: couldn't print (not responding)

I tried above, didn't work..

I tried to repair Office 2013, didn't work.

Was thinking about going back to Windows 8, but had no idea where to find the product key of office.

What worked in my case?

Control Panel > Programs > Run programs made for previous version of Windows

And I deleted and re-installed my printer and disabled OneDrive..

I'm not an IT expert at all, just wanted to share this worked in my case..

 SkyDrive and OneDrive is the same; Microsoft just renamed SkyDrive as OneDrive  during 2014,after losing its trademark dispute in 2013

I don't have a OneDrive folder in my %userprofile%. There is, however, a SkyDrive folder. Should I use that instead?

Glad you are aware of this issue...!

If you are aware of this issue just fix it; the solution that you have suggested  does not help much. Kindly be generous enough to give us the freedom of choice to put our files wherever we want and give us a fix to access/ save our files the location that is convenient for us. Do not force us to save all docs to OneDrive

I agree with both of you as luckily I had my fikes backed up to a home network server. I can never stress enough hoe nice it was to know that the files I had I didnt do my monthly transfer over from my laptop to network storage. 

How Microsoft has taken away the most basic idea for a computer and software which is saving and retrieving files I have no idea hiw they get away with it. 

I understand that the issue relates to the onedrive and office 365 truing to function with windows 10. 

Its a disaster Microsoft and I nearly have gone the route of seeing if I could go to Google docs or to Mac.

Im sure im one of many ungappy customers.
