We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder Double-click the OneDrive folder When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin) Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt In the command prompt, type the following command: cd %userprofile% press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command: cd OneDrive press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command: icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e (where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix) press Enter on your keyboard If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop and opened from there.

Believe it or not I lost 2 months worth of word files on Saturday. A friend of mine told me to go to wikipedia and Libre office. So I did and down-loaded the program it is like a word program but actually has more stuff. I havent used it long enough to make a sound judgement but until microsoft can say word has integrity not to crash I have to have something that works. Ive used word since I had my first computer and always liked it. Since microsoft word launched as a web program it has had nothing but problems. I wonder if so many people are online using it that there are not enough web-servers to handle the bandwidth? I don't know? I'm not a tech and microsoft techs have not told me a solution to their fidgety program. It still crashes even after installing it. Until microsoft can assure me word will work without a hitch I am going to try other options even if I have to buy an old fashion typewriter (pun). In the mean time I will try the Libre office. Neither of these worked for me (also tried similar steps in the Run prompt. And I also tried opening from going to All Apps, Microsoft Office 2013, and tried to open both word & Excel and they both still open then close in about a second.

Homeland security is more than welcome to look at ALL of my files, but I would still like to be able to save them to my own computer....go look there !!! The $$$ I paid for my program to NOT work should be reimbursed...

That is how all sevices keep you as a customer. When certain words are flagged by homeland security, all of your files will be carefully examined to see if you are an individual with potential terroristic threat to society. When I go to the post office to mail a package...agents make me empty my pockets into a bin and walk through the scanner. Online storage is a version of that with all your data files you willingly submit. It is an invasion of Americas right to personal privacy. Keep all your files on your own back-up systems. That does not solve the problem. Microsoft is designing Word to crash when saving files to your PC in order to make online personal data storage your only option. The wave of the future is to monitor 'all citizens' (already happening.) That issue has been in the News frequently. Its like leaving a diary of personal and private business projects on a snoops table. When you are gone...they sneak a peek. I don't see any other reason for Word to crash when saving to PC documents. If you're not mad you should be. Consider Hillary Clinton and the examination of her emai l. That is just an exammple of how 'they' want to know your business. If microsoft says I am wrong and paranoid...they should design their products to work and not cause such suspician...to give cause to conspiracy theories..and at least not be so obvious about their participation in public spying.
