We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder Double-click the OneDrive folder When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin) Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt In the command prompt, type the following command: cd %userprofile% press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command: cd OneDrive press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command: icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e (where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix) press Enter on your keyboard If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop and opened from there.

Talk about being f**ked. The best work around I've found is to use CTRL+S, then close the document. I've been every single document. If you want to back up spreadsheets, copy the document, then paste it to the separate location. I've had success doing this and have been able to copy documents to OneDrive using this method. But, we shouldn't have to do this. And trying to do this for several documents is... well, words fail. I've tried Excel online, but the functionality isn't there. Note to Microsoft: HELP! PLEASE! SOON!

I have two different files that I have been able to save. I do not know why or how, but, they are saved on my desktop. I truly understand your frustration....most of my files open only as read only. I am going to take all of my office files and put them on my old windows 7 laptop just so I will be able to keep the records that I keep updated. Files that I use for tax purposes. Medical, rental, I can't imagine if someone actually running a business and using this software. This whole situation is unacceptable. WHAT MUST WE DO TO GET YOU TO LISTEN TO US MICROSOFT !!!

This is a major problem. I'm the Chief Operating Officer of a national company and not being able to open documents in the software they were created is a huge headache. We've tried all of the fixes you've suggested. None of them work. So we are now opening them in Google Docs. Its taking ten times as long to do basic day to day tasks. How long will it take to fix this problem properly? I can't see any timeline??? Please provide an urgent update or I will need to escalate this high and wide very quickly.

Oh yes, they are reading them. I got a couple of "smart a$$" answers to my posts and when I clicked on the names of the persons sending them, they worked for Microsoft....so yes they do monitor this thread....but in my opinion, they have no solution so they try to make all of us look stupid by constantly posting the same work around response that does not work!! I feel for you...Microsoft does not care what they have done to the people who use their product to make a living. I really believe my idea of the class action lawsuit is not out of line.....by the way go back and read where I posted that idea and see the responses to that, then click on the name that posted that response. My CPU processor speed (remember, it's way out of date) has often run at 90-100% since I upgraded. I do like the Windows 10 interface, but if it doesn't run Office programs, it kind of defeats the purpose, yes?
