We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members.

In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run

  1. type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder
  2. Double-click the OneDrive folder
  3. When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR
  4. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin)
  5. Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt
  6. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd %userprofile%

press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command:

cd OneDrive

press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command:

icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e

(where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix)

press Enter on your keyboard

If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop

and opened from there.

The only simple solution I have found for this is still a pain. Right click on the MS Word icon and select run as administrator. When you do this it can save file to the documents folder.

It isnt about 10. Microsoft creates programs designed to be extinct. It is the good guy/bad guy thing. Every version of windows has a glitch to make people want to upgrade (for money) to the latest Micro-Rave. Each new version is designed to make you want the next version.  It is about stock holders not consumers.

The Creator gave us a brain...the computer gave it a drain.

Get Libre Office Writer on line. It is a Linux program that works on windows too. Also download Open Office 4.1.2 Both of these programs crash but recover as long as you keep poking the save icon often. Windows Office has gone backwards since the day it was free on computers. Windows office has the worst crash record and charges for you to be there.

Realize that all of your documents are saved to your C drive. All word proccesors can access your C files. When you want a picture you click insert.

A word proccesor program accesses your hard drive according to your prompts. All proccessors have bugs including windows. That is the crash. I have received a lot of emails since my original post about microsoft office 365. Go on line and type in "word processor" there are many options and you dont have to pay accept with headaches.

Since people quit using typewriters there is more room for crashes on the internet than on the manual writer unless it quits typing. I think all brilliant minds should try manual typing. 5000 sheets of paper from ebay for $40 delivered? I pounded the keys on my broken typewriter but it was more fun than a crash cup word proccessor.

Dont just write all your thoughts on the internet. They are precious and need to be hand written. Then you can rethink the thought and discard innappropiate behvior.

We all need to remember the days when we got creative manually and not in pixels.

After I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 the nightmare began. When Bill Gates left Microsoft the world crumbled. When those big ugly icons booted on my computer I almost gave up. Do this. Look for "Windows Classic Shell" on the engine and download it. The windows 10 nightmare will have a face lift but problem now solved.

As all of you who had the free windows 10 upgrade know...it was a 4-6 hour experience. I recently had a new update that ruined a projected morning of business. Microsoft is rude in assuming us users can take a break from business to play with upgrades at 9 AM.

I am not an enemy of microsoft...???

30 years  ago or so we had the Commodore 64. OUCH! I thought I would never play computer ever again. Today Microsoft expects us to be as smart as their computer programmers. Over the years Microsoft has raised the difficulty level of operating a PC. What once was stupid is now obtruse.

The infancy of technology is still at hand.

    Stupity is still in front

There may be a fix? I downloaded windows classic shell and navigation is more familar to us old windows users. I have Libre office writer downloaded also open office. both those programs crash like windows office too. However both Libre and open office both have a recovery option after crash. Remember to save your files often. Push that save icon often because it is not just there to look cute.

I suggest using traditional backup means like DVDs and memory sticks. Make more than one copy if the information is precious. All that time you spend creating data is not easy to replace. Cloud, one drive and all that other **** have a bad track record for back up.

Microsoft has a bad habit of issuing software before it has removed all the bugs. Take a look at your laptop. Mostly plastic and electricity. Those small circuit boards are not designed for roughhousing. Still I would not trust somebody with my data stored in a foolish cloud or one drive to never. If you make every effort to back up your important data at least you know what disc it is on.

Windows 10 has a terrible backup sytem. they are pushing online backup more these days and making disc backup more obscure. Microsoft is a business with share holders and interested in keeping them on board. They release new software before debugging it. They call that beta. Nobody is sure if it will eat your $900 laptop?

Technology is a **** shoot. A gamble at best. As consumers we expect the very best. Ive said it before and now again...Thomas Edison invented a lightbulb that burned over 100 years. GE made it so you have to keep buying more. Now they charge more for curly bulbs to make up for them lasting longer.

As for computers...the companies make them to break so you keep upgrading to the next pack of trouble. Finally all the downloads are full of bugs too. When windows updates god only knows who will **** the bed?

How much backup do we need? If you are in the biz of watching over the well being of the world...I say...back up the important things by hand. Dont cry in your beer that Microsoft messed up a good day...they are not predjudiced and mess up everybodys game even if you was Jesus.

As long as we keep buying light bulbs they will sell them to us until we start using candles again. I hate Microsoft...who doesnt...but they own the bank.

    Take a deep breath

Dont trust everyone with your information

the world knows enough about us already

    dont tattle on yourself
