Pinned Items in Office 2016 not sorted alphabetically

So disappointing to see that this is STILL an issue.   I just got upgraded to Office 2016 a month ago.   And all is fine with the new features except the pinned items is driving me crazy , I have about 10 frequently used files and it just makes perfect sense they stay in the same order.   I was positive I was missing a custom setting somewhere.  So then starting searching and found this post in the community.   Blows my mind that this is not an option.   This original post is now 2 years old.  Come on Microsoft

My pinned files are those that I use once a month or biweekly or for reference, but need quick, easy access to.  I don't need them sorted by which was used most recently because that doesn't matter at all for a pinned file - I "pinned" it for access purposes, meaning I don't want to have to search for it every time I need it.  By mixing up the order, Microsoft has eliminated part of the ease of having a pinned list of files.  Yes, the files are all in one place now, but the "pinned files" area acts almost like another file folder, and file names are ALWAYS alphabetized in file folders.  This new way makes absolutely no sense to me.  If I want MRU files, I'll look in that area.

It should be alphabetical. New sorting system is terrible, switch back please

Please restore the ability to sort alphabetically, or else make it possible for users to control how they want their pinned items sorted.

I have a pinned variety of useful files, some many years old, and cannot always remember the order in which they were created or modified. Alphabetical sorting is much more useful to me.

I agree with Greg1126.  I keep 25 files in the pinned list.  Having them re-sorted each time they are opened is VERY inefficient!  Why did you ever make such a stupid change?  MS always talks about increasing productivity - this change (of re-sorting the pinned list based upon usage date/time) causes me to be VERY unproductive!

I have a pinned list of about 15 file names that I use almost daily, and it would be most efficient for me to be able to quickly locate the one I want at the moment. An alphabetized list would be best for speed and efficiency. I can appreciate that some users might prefer a chronological list; so users should be able to choose how they want the file names sorted.
