    Thanks. I will try this out! I suspect the reason for why OneNote Metro cannot be fully disabled has something to do with the new Edge browser. The browser integrates with OneNote in someway, shape, or form for writing on webpages. Uninstalling OneNote would probably mess that up. Since it is not fully disabled that may explain why the surface is still executing on that version of the application. Least that is my theory.

    I experienced this very same thing. I am left-handed, which the native app doesn't seem to have support for. :(

    Its not a Ms answer but itlss stop you having to go back to windows 8 if this is your only reason (for me no ability to use installable VPN clients is the killer issue). There is one way, Autohotkey

    I wrote a script a while ago, but commented out the pen click as it wasn't needed after the surface app.

    I've added the ability to advance slides in PowerPoint using the pen button (when PowerPoint is the active window)

    Also double click the pen in OneNote to get the drawing pens.

    #NoEnv

    ;#AllowSameLineComments

    #SingleInstance force

    #InstallKeybdHook

    #HotkeyInterval 2000

    #MaxHotkeysPerInterval 300

    SetTitleMatchMode, 2

    ;/*

    ; remap surface pen button to launch any program

    #F20::

    ; change this file location to launch whatever program you desire

    Run C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\OneNote.exe

    return

    #ifwinactive, OneNote

    ;#ifwinactive ahk_class Framework::CFrame

    #F19::

    sleep 50

    send {alt} ;activate menu hotkeys

    sleep 50 ;wait for menu to activate, you may need to tweak this

    send dp ;select draw=>pens. this can be changed to whatever menu hotkeys you want. 2{alt} will undo your last action, wf will toggle between windowed and full screen.

    ;send {alt}d ;to select Draw tab

    ;send p ;to select pen

    This issue is effecting me too and it's driving me insane. I'll seriously consider downgrading back to windows 8 if this issue doesn't get solved relatively soon. No matter what I cannot get OneNote Desktop to be the default program to open when I click the pen.

    I have the same problem. I contacted customer service, talked to them for an hour and they didn't help at all. Made me do things that don't relate to the issue. I want it solved otherwise no point for me using windows 10 the all idea about SP3 is the pen and onenote
