Office 2016 uninstalls my Visio 2013

So, even though I had followed the instructions to install Office 2016 from Office 365 home, it was not successful even after 5 tries, restarting, uninstalling, restarting...my biggest issue is Visio 2013. I purchased it as I need it! But why can't I find any way to just upgrade Visio from 2013 to 2016? There is no instruction! I do not want to buy the new Visio 2016 when I only purchased Visio 2013 a few months ago. Please help!!!

GAAAH! MSHUP is fine if you have a volume license. Me, I am retired, have an Office365 subscription as well as owning Visio 2013 (Pro), which I just updated last July. I want the current version of Office (2016) but it dumps my Visio 2013. I would not mind paying $150/year for Office 365 and Visio (Pro). MS seems to be pretty confused regarding the relationships between Office, Visio, Project. Duh, make them all Office 365 and charge appropriately.

Hi, I have the same problem. I have upgraded to Office 2016 and lost Visio 2013 which I purchased less than a year ago. I'm now dead in the water as I use Visio for my work, is there anyway to run it or will Microsoft refund to allow Visio 2016 upgrade??

    King Regards

Yes, as it stands you cannot mix Office 365/2016 with earlier versions of Project.

BUT, if you read back through this question you'll see there is no need to cancel your subscription. There is an offer for a free upgrade to Project and Visio 2016 which will install alongside of Office 365/2016

You can try contacting MS support directly and if they are not already aware of the offer (many still are not!) give them the links.  EVENTUALLY you will get a free license for the 2 products.

OR, you can wait to get a private message from one of the MS employees who are monitoring this question. They will also help you get the free licenses.

Either way the process seems to take several days from start to end.  If you are pressed for time, there may be a way for you to back out to Office 2013.

How do I reinstall Office 2013 after an Office 2016 upgrade?

If that doesn't work, there is a more "manual" method I can provide documentation for.
