OFFICE STUCK AT "We're getting things ready" (Office for Windows)

I activated my Office 365 Home Subscription and clicked the install button on the page. It downloaded an .exe file and so I clicked it, then an orange box popped up saying "We're getting things ready" and it has been like this for 30 minutes. What do I do? Could this be linked to the fact that I bought the subscription key thing in the U.S. and activated it in the Philippines through telephone activation because it was region locked? (They sent me an email with a link where it just required me to sign in and then it went to the install page)

Using a brand new Surface Pro 4 256gb i5 model

Update: Got past the first orange popup by forcing it to quit and restarting my surface then I got an error and then proceeded to click the help link on the error message then it made me download something and run that thing then now I downloaded the install .exe file again and ran it. Now I'm at the bigger white "Installing Office" with "We'll be done in just a moment" popup with the loading bar thing. I'm stuck at 15%. How long does this usually take and does it require internet? I have **** internet right now because of something called "Asia Pacific Downtime Blah Blah" my ISP keeps telling me.

I have tried many ways of this installation problem where the orange windows keep hanging, but this works! Thanks for the tips! I think Microsoft should have the code trap to handle this issue instead of just hanging the installation.

I am stuck at the 'We're getting things ready' for over 24 hours when I am trying to add an account to my outlook. Is this normal?

I had the same problem (Win 7, trying to install OneNote). I eventually solved the install problem by opening msconfig and setting the reboot option as only loading system services as follows:

(In Windows 7)

-hold the Windows key+R (to open the RUN console)

-type: msconfig and click OK, to open the msconfig dialog

-on the first tab (General), the first radial button will be selected by default (Normal Startup). Change this to the third button (Selective Startup) and click only the first checkbox (Load system services)
- Click OK and restart
- After restart, double-click the installer. If it gives you an error message stating it can't find "powershell.exe", click "close" on the error dialog window and immediately double-click the installer again, and it should work. If not, then the PATH variable for the powershell.exe application may need to be updated (Google how to do that, it's straight forward).
-The installer should now run. It took over an hour to complete for me, but I live in a rural area and my internet bandwidth is not that good.

Be sure to pay attention to your Taskbar, the installer prompt (the one that tells you the install has completed) popped up BEHIND the progress bar window, so I didn't see it for some time. The installer progress bar seemed stuck at around 30%, but I noticed the icon in the taskbar was slowly pulsing, so I clicked it, and up popped the completion dialog, and away went the progress bar.
