OFFICE STUCK AT "We're getting things ready" (Office for Windows)

I activated my Office 365 Home Subscription and clicked the install button on the page. It downloaded an .exe file and so I clicked it, then an orange box popped up saying "We're getting things ready" and it has been like this for 30 minutes. What do I do? Could this be linked to the fact that I bought the subscription key thing in the U.S. and activated it in the Philippines through telephone activation because it was region locked? (They sent me an email with a link where it just required me to sign in and then it went to the install page)

Using a brand new Surface Pro 4 256gb i5 model

Update: Got past the first orange popup by forcing it to quit and restarting my surface then I got an error and then proceeded to click the help link on the error message then it made me download something and run that thing then now I downloaded the install .exe file again and ran it. Now I'm at the bigger white "Installing Office" with "We'll be done in just a moment" popup with the loading bar thing. I'm stuck at 15%. How long does this usually take and does it require internet? I have **** internet right now because of something called "Asia Pacific Downtime Blah Blah" my ISP keeps telling me.

I find it maddening that Microsoft products never seen to get to a place where they just work.  Look at all the hassles we put up with in Outlook.  Consider a free alternative email program called eM Client that is SO easy to setup and FREE.  I love this program.  It will often even let you convert from POP to IMAP and it has never given me a seconds trouble importing Contacts either but I have spent a lot of time fighting with the train wreck of how Outlook fails to do Contacts.  Check it out here:

Not sure whether this will help anyone, but I found that if I install MS Office in a laptop with fully updated legal Windows, I don't have to wait for the "welcoming" screen more than just a few minutes or even just seconds. I have had a problem so far only in laptops which do not have a full installation of Windows (pirated software).

When is this ever going to be fixed???????? Ive been dealing with this issue on and off for about FIVE years now.. how about letting us download an ISO and side step this buggy installer?

Also have only a  Microsoft Tech answering these question not other users..

Microsoft created the buggy software and Microsoft needs to step up and answer every single question.

For me the solution was to temporarily disable our network's firewall. Somehow it identified the download of MSFT Office 365 as a threat but didn't even bother to notify me about it.
