OFFICE STUCK AT "We're getting things ready" (Office for Windows)

I found this fix :) Fixing the Registry

Programs can be kept from running by adding them to a key called DisallowRun in the Windows Registry. To remove these restrictions, follow the following steps.

1. Open regedit by clicking your start button and typing regedit and pressing enter. On Windows XP, Click Start, then run, then type regedit.
2. Find \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\ and delete the key called DisallowRun.

Then run the office.exe app or installer as administrator.

I activated my Office 365 Home Subscription and clicked the install button on the page. It downloaded an .exe file and so I clicked it, then an orange box popped up saying "We're getting things ready" and it has been like this for 30 minutes. What do I do? Could this be linked to the fact that I bought the subscription key thing in the U.S. and activated it in the Philippines through telephone activation because it was region locked? (They sent me an email with a link where it just required me to sign in and then it went to the install page)

Using a brand new Surface Pro 4 256gb i5 model

Update: Got past the first orange popup by forcing it to quit and restarting my surface then I got an error and then proceeded to click the help link on the error message then it made me download something and run that thing then now I downloaded the install .exe file again and ran it. Now I'm at the bigger white "Installing Office" with "We'll be done in just a moment" popup with the loading bar thing. I'm stuck at 15%. How long does this usually take and does it require internet? I have **** internet right now because of something called "Asia Pacific Downtime Blah Blah" my ISP keeps telling me.

I am having the same problem  I have been waiting  one hour don't know what to do. I baught my subscription  at JB HIFI this afternoon  still saying were getting things  ready  I have up computer  on Optus wow this is so slow of a program  to install. You can't get help from Microsoft office  or up computer  tech here I come. It works out a VERY EXPENSIVE  PROGRAM/PROBLEM

I had exactly the same problem and downloaded Microsofts Support and recovery assistant. It actually found that my problem was a 32 bit version of Access and I was trying to download 64 bit office. Once I deleted the Access file using file manager all worked fine.

Exactly.  I have a 64-bit OS but when I went to the install page in Office 365, it defaults to the 32-bit version.  I selected the option to download the 64-bit version offline installation.  The file itself only appears to be 3.4GB so it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to download the actual install file.

Solved

For the same problem, I just realized that an antivirus installed in my laptop was blocking Windows-Script and Office-Macro for running. Unchecked the option for allowing, the installation of Office 365 begin shortly.
