YES, Office 2007 is compatible with Windows 10, I suggest you to follow the link Compatibility centerand check if it helps.

However, you may upgrade to the latest Office version.

Which versions of Microsoft Office work on Windows 10?

The following versions of Microsoft Office with the latest Service Packs have been confirmed to be compatible with Windows 10:

Older versions of Office such as Office 2003 and Office XP are not certified compatible with Windows 10 but might work using compatibility mode.

    Even though you can't double-click a .docx file, you can open it after starting Word, correct?

    Yes. I can click the *.docx and Word will open but not the document. I can then open the document from inside Word. After I close out Word there is a notification that says "There was a problem sending the command to the program". As far as someone else's suggestion to format my computer and reinstall "Word", that's not going to happen. I don't want to spend days having to get together software and licenses to reinstall all the other software that does work properly. This issue only came up after I received notice of some kind that certain functions of a preinstalled version of Office with Windows 10 would no longer be available because the "trial period" had expired. I originally installed "Home and Student 2007" because I didn't want to have to pay for a license while I still had software that worked and that I had already paid the license for. I never used the Windows 10 pre-installed version Office.

    We will all eventually have to buy Office 2016 or whatever because you can try all you want to install Office 2007with Windows 10, and it will install but it will not update all of the bells and whistles. Office 2007 is like still using XP, it works but it won't update , it will soon just stop working.

    Just don't go with Windows 10 until you have no other choice.
