I am getting the error, “Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. 30088-4” when trying to install Office 365 Home Premium/University. What should I do?

If you receive this error when trying to install Office 365 Home Premium/University:
“Something went wrong. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Go online for additional help. Error code 30088-4”
Use this article to remove Office and then try installing it again.

I have had a similar message today but code 30088-26. I recently bought a new PC with Windows8. This included a free 1 month trial of Office365 which I downloaded. Everything worked fine. Since then I have repeatedly been encouraged to upgrade to Windows8.1...so eventually today I did. Sometime today Microsoft automatically started installing some updates and I got the message
'Error: Something went wrong. Sorry we ran into a problem. Try going online for additional help. Office error code 30088-26 '.
I spent a lot of time in these forums before eventually finding my way to 'Office.com'. My problem was solved by uninstalling and reinstalling.
Go to Office.com - Support - Installation Help and click on 'Error: Something went wrong etc.'.
I tried online repair with no result and eventually used 'Fix It' and reinstalled from Office.com/myaccount . Hope this helps somebody.
